A rotary actuator may include a first holder in which a fluid injecting portion is formed, a second holder rotatably coupled to the first holder, a flexible body fixed to the first holder and the second holder and configured to expand as a fluid is injected through the first holder, and a plurality of fibers radially disposed in a spiral shape at the flexible body and configured to rotate the flexible body when the flexible body expands.

Provided are an apparatus and method for controlling a robot. The apparatus includes an active force detector configured to detect an active force, to which a natural force caused by a physical interaction between a user and a robot and not reflecting an operation intention of the user is applied, applied by the user to the robot operating through the physical interaction with the user, a compensator configured to determine a compensation force for actively compensating for the natural force applied to the active force by using a method of optimizing an internal parameter of a predefined dynamics model, and a controller configured to determine an operation instruction for controlling an operation of the robot from a result obtained by applying the compensation force determined by the compensator to the active force detected by the active force detector and operate the robot.

The present invention relates to a respiration mimic device, and includes a chamber having an interior space filled with fluid, a lung mimic, to be contracted or expanded, accommodated at the interior space in the chamber; a lung copying unit including a tumor mimic distributed in the lung mimic; a driving unit for copying motion patterns of the lung according to actual respiration and contracting or expanding the lung mimic; and an abdomen copying unit for elevating vertically according to contraction or expansion of the lung mimic and copying an abdomen.

An actuator according to example embodiments may be relatively compact and may be driven with 2 degrees of freedom with less spatial constraints. The actuator may include a base member, a ball screw member including a ball screw coupled to the base member and a ball nut screwed onto the ball screw, a driving member coupled to the ball nut so as to move in conjunction with the ball nut, a first directional displacement member configured to move in a first direction in response to a first movement of the driving member, a wedge member coupled to the driving member so as to be moved in a second direction in response to a second movement of the driving member, a second directional displacement member configured to move in a second direction in conjunction with the wedge member, and a binding member configured to bind the first directional displacement member to at least one of the driving member, the wedge member, and the base member.

The present invention provides an electroactive solid-state actuator, including a solid polymer electrolyte film having first and second main surfaces facing each other, and first and second conductive polymer layers infiltrated into the first and second main surfaces of the solid polymer electrolyte film. Further, a method of manufacturing the electroactive solid-state actuator is provided, the method including preparing a solid polymer film having first and second main surfaces facing each other, infiltrating a monomer of a conductive polymer into the first and second main surfaces of the solid polymer film, followed by polymerization, to form first and second conductive polymer layers, and immersing the solid polymer film into an ionic liquid or liquid electrolyte to be converted to an electrically conductive polymer.
