A rotationally symmetric contact lens has a reservoir formed centrally on the posterior surface thereof to provide an additional optical power of up to 1.51 diopters. The reservoir may be spherically or aspherically shaped.

Correction of astigmatism using rotationally symmetric contact lenses

An intraocular lens, for use within the human eye, contains three concentric regions. An innermost region provides far-field vision. A middle region, surrounding the innermost region, provides near-field vision. An outermost region, surrounding the middle region, provides far-field vision. The intermost region is of a size such that, when the pupil constricts in bright light, the innermost region remains exposed to incoming light, and can thus focus distant images in bright light.

Multi-focal intraocular lens

An accommodating intraocular lens apparatus preferably includes a lens member having a relatively flexible portion and a relatively rigid portion, with a fluid-filled chamber therebetween. The preferred intraocular lens also includes a hydraulic or other fluid accommodation provision for changing the shape or position of the flexible lens by changing the fluid pressure in the fluid-filled chamber in response to muscle movement of the eye.

Accommodating intraocular lens

A concentric bifocal contact lens is disclosed. The lens has a first distance power correction region of circular periphery in the central portion thereof, surrounded in succession by a concentric near power correction annular region and a concentric second distance power correction annular region. Under bright conditions, when the pupil of the eye is small, the central distance power region is helpful in achieving good distance vision.

Concentric bifocal contact lens with two distance power regions

In accordance with the disclosure there is provided a thin circular lens body formed of a single piece of plastic material. The body has a symmetrically curved rear surface adapted to fit centrally on the corneal surface of the eye. The lens body has a near power correction region of circular periphery in the central portion thereof, surrounded by a concentric distance power annular correction region. The near power central region has an area which is substantially equal to half the pupil area of the eye under average reading light conditions.
