A suture passing apparatus including an elongated body having opposite ends. A head is located on one end with a retainer assembly located at the other end. A recess extends from the aperture along the elongated body. A loop of a flexible member is placed in the aperture and over a projection extending into the aperture. The flexible member is placed in the recess extending from the aperture along the elongated body.

Suture passing apparatus and method of using same

A bone fixation system including a bone plate, a flexible member, and an actuator. The flexible member connected to both the actuator and the bone plate whereby the actuator operates to move or control the movement of the flexible member. In one example, the actuator applies a force to the flexible member placing the flexible member in tension. Correspondingly, the flexible member transmits the force to the bone plate and operates to draw or pull the bone plate toward or to the actuator.

Bone plate system

An intramedullary nail for use in a medullary canal of a long bone. The nail includes a body defining a longitudinal axis and an external periphery for fitting in the medullary canal of the long bone. The body has a first internal wall thereof defining a first opening through the body, defining a first opening centerline. The body has a second internal wall defining a second opening through the body, defining a second opening centerline. The first opening centerline and the second opening centerline are oblique with respect to each other. The longitudinal axis of the body and the first opening centerline form an acute angle between the longitudinal axis of the body and the first opening centerline. The longitudinal axis of the body and the second opening centerline forming an acute angle between the longitudinal axis of the body and the second opening centerline.

A depth gage for use with a drill in orthopaedics is provided. The depth gage includes a body. The body has first and second ends opposed to each other and an inner periphery defining a longitudinal aperture through the body for slidably receiving the drill. The longitudinal aperture defines a longitudinal axis of the longitudinal aperture. The body is adapted to permit the drill to be positioned in the longitudinal aperture in a direction non-coincident with the longitudinal axis.
