A suturing apparatus comprises a pair of jaws. A bendable needle housed in one of the jaws is adapted to carry a suture. A suture receiver is disposed adjacent to, or integral with, the opposite jaw to help disengage the suture carried by the bendable needle. A transition block curves the needle and directs it in a direction generally unparallel to an axis of the carrying jaw. The jaw housing the needle may include a lateral opening through which the suture may be inserted. The needle may also include a lateral notch which may be aligned with lateral opening to receive the suture. An actuator coupled to the needle enables the user to move the needle proximally to align the notch with the lateral slot.

Suturing apparatus and method

Disclosed herein is a shield for shielding a telemetry wand from electromagnetical interference capable of interfering with telemetry communications between the telemetry wand and an AIMD in a patient. The telemetry wand may include a first side that is configured to be placed against a patient, a second side generally opposite the first side, a lateral side between the first and second sides, a hole extending between the first and second sides, and a cable extending from the lateral side. The shield may include a shell including a wall that defines a volume and an opening in the shell. The volume may be configured to receive therein the telemetry wand such that the second and lateral sides of the telemetry wand face respective portions of the wall and the first side faces the opening in the shell.

Shielding telemetry communications between active implantable medical devices and external instruments from high power electrical interferers

A universal cable connector for detachably connecting a stimulation lead to a system analyzer includes a nonconductive connector block for releasably receiving and holding fixed a proximate contact electrically in continuity with a distal electrode, a cable for selectively electrically interconnecting the proximate contact and the system analyzer, and a switch mechanism for selectively connecting electrically the system analyzer cable with the proximate contact thereby enabling the system analyzer to determine the efficacy of the chosen body tissue site. The connector block includes a nest region for receiving the proximal end of the lead and the switch mechanism includes a switch contact electrically engaged with the cable and movable between a first position disengaged from an associated and selected exposed proximate contact and a second position engaged with the proximate contact for electrically connecting the distal electrode to the system analyzer.

A transition block curves the needle and directs it in a direction generally unparallel to an axis of the carrying jaw. The needle may also be configured to retrieve a suture. A retaining mechanism holds a suture in place to be engaged by the needle. The jaw housing the needle may include a lateral opening through which the suture may be inserted. The needle may also include a lateral notch which may be aligned with lateral opening to receive the suture. An actuator coupled to the needle enables the user to move the needle proximally to align the notch with the lateral slot.

Suture needle

A stamp playset includes a book-like case supporting a plurality of symbol pads together with an elongated inking pad and a generally cylindrical roller stamp. The roller stamp includes a cylindrical housing within which a cylindrical roller is supported. The cylindrical roller defines a plurality of attachment slots which receive attachment flanges of selected symbol pads. The symbol pads are arrangeable in a variety of sequences as desired. The roller further supports a symbol cube having a plurality of symbol elements. The symbol cube is rotatably supported to facilitate alignment of a selected one of the plurality of symbol elements thereon within the sequence of symbols to be roller stamp.
