A system for classifying cardiac rhythms is disclosed. The system includes one or more processors, one or more computer-readable tangible storage devices, and program instructions stored on at least one of the one or more storage devices for execution by at least one of the one or more processors. The program instructions include first program instructions to obtain data representative of a time series of the times between heartbeats. The program instructions further comprise second program instructions to segment the time series into a plurality of segments. The program instructions further comprise third program instructions to calculate a plurality of parameters corresponding to each of the 30-second segments. The program instructions further comprise fourth program instructions to analyze the obtained data and the calculated parameters using a plurality of multivariable algorithms for rhythm classification. The program instructions further comprise fifth program instructions to synthesize the results of the plurality of multivariable algorithms to formulate a single rhythm classification.

System and method for improved cardiac rhythm classification from the time between heart beat intervals using non-linear dynamics

A method for analysis of cardiac rhythms, based on calculations of entropy and moments of interbeat intervals. An optimal determination of segments of data is provided that demonstrate statistical homogeneity, specifically with regard to moments and entropy. The invention also involves calculating moments and entropy on each segment with the goal of diagnosis of cardiac rhythm. More specifically, an absolute entropy measurement is calculated and provided as a continuous variable, providing dynamical information of fundamental importance in diagnosis and analysis. Through the present invention, standard histograms, thresholds, and categories can be avoided.

Analysis of cardiac rhythm using RR interval characterization

A method of determining health and mortality includes obtaining a ventricular activation (RR) time series from a subject for multiple temporal intervals. The method also includes calculating a cardiac entropy in the RR time series over the temporal intervals using coefficient of sample entropy (COSEn). Additionally, the method includes comparing the cardiac entropy between the intervals to determine health and mortality. The absolute and relative changes in entropy over a patient's follow up period provide dynamic information regarding health and mortality risk. The determination of health and mortality can then be used to create a treatment plan for the subject.

A method for analysis of cardiac rhythm and RR interval time series based on entropy related data and entropy based measures. The information is related to but distinct from entropy, and is derived from histograms of interval match counts in which the y-axis is the frequency of intervals of length in that have the match count given on the x-axis. The phenotype of the histogram informs on the presence of atrial fibrillation or, in the presence of sinus rhythm, the degree of congestive heart failure.
