Disclosed is a biopsy specimen carrier adapted for tissue biopsy samples where the specimen need not be removed or handled once housed within and including a backer board, a media removable secured to the backer board, a media carrier removable secured to the media and receptive to hold a tissue biopsy sample, a first strip of adhesive material on the media adjacent to the media carrier, and a release strip covering the first strip of adhesive material. The media is foldable to cover the media carrier carrying a tissue biopsy sample and is secured to the first strip of adhesive material with the release strip removed.

Disclosed is an Hg capture system adapted for advantageous placement within a container housing a fluorescent lamp. Such Hg capture system includes a substrate impregnated with between about 0.08 and 0.23 g/cmcarbon carrying between about 5% and 15% sulfur, basis carbon weight, reacted with between about 0.02 to about 1% by weight iodine, basis sulfur weight. The corresponding method for scouring released vaporous Hg housed within a container includes providing a source of carbon carrying between about 5% and 15% sulfur, basis carbon weight, reacted with between about 0.02 to about 1% by weight iodine, basis sulfur weight; and placing within the container a substrate bearing an effective amount of the iodine reacted sulfur for scouring Hg released within the container.

The present invention relates to an improved adsorption process for recovery of a condensible organic contaminant from a humid gas carrier stream. The improvement in such process comprises the steps of passing the humid contaminant-laden gas through a first adsorber until the organic contaminant is detected at a preset 'breakthrough' level in the outlet gas. The outlet gas from the first adsorber is then passed through a second adsorber until the level of organic contaminant is determined to be at approximately the level of organic contaminant in the humid contaminant-laden gas being passed into the first adsorber, and at which point part of the less well-adsorbed water has passed into the outlet gas of the first adsorber. At such time, passage of the humid contaminant-laden gas into the first adsorber is discontinued and, instead, the humid contaminant-laden gas is passed into the second adsorber. During passage of the humid contaminant-laden gas into the second adsorber, the first adsorber, now loaded only with organic contaminant is regenerated. The humid contaminant-laden gas is passed into the second adsorber until the contaminant in the outlet gas from the second adsorber reaches the breakthrough level, at which time the process may be continued by passing the outlet gas from the second bed into the regenerated first bed.

Water removal from humid gases laden with organic contaminants by series

The present invention relates to an energy and equipment efficient cyclic process for the recovery of a condensable organic compound from an inert gas stream carrier. Such process comprises expansively cooling a gas in a turbine expander to effect a condensing separation and a recovery of the condensable organic compound from the relatively noncondensable inert gas component. The motive force required to pass the stream through the expander is advantageously supplied by a vacuum pump positioned after the corrosive condensables have been removed from the inert gas carrier stream. The inert gas component optionally may be passed from the vacuum pump into a compressor in order to effect its compressive heating prior to its passage into contact with the condensable organic compound to thereby effect its ladening therewith and a repetition of the cycle. Advantageously, the compressor or, alternatively, the vacuum pump, may be powered in part by the energy liberated from the expansive cooling of the organic compound-laden inert gas stream.
