Ophthalmic lens molds include first and second mold members sized and adapted to be assembled, for example interference fitted, together to define a lens-shaped cavity therebetween. At least one of the mold members includes a polar polymeric material and has a flexural modulus less than 3800 MPa.

Interference fitting polar resin ophthalmic lens molding devices and related methods

Methods of correcting vision are described. The methods include inserting a lens into a corneal epithelial pocket or a pocket created between a corneal epithelium of an eye of a patient and Bowman's membrane of the eye. A lens is inserted into the pocket to correct vision. Certain methods include one or more steps of cooling the corneal epithelium, and applying an aqueous liquid to the eye. The lenses that are inserted into the pocket can include collagen, including recombinant collagen, synthetic polymeric materials, and combinations thereof.

Contact lenses ready for use in an eye are provided including a contact lens body containing a hydrophilic polymeric component and a water soluble polymer component. Such contact lenses, which preferably are wet cast molded, are particularly useful as disposable or single use lenses. New contact lens packaging systems and production methods are also provided.

Devices and methods for improving vision are described. The vision of a person can be corrected using a corneal onlay or a lens positioned between an epithelial cell layer and Bowman's membrane of the person's eye. Wavefront aberrations are measured for the person's eye or eyes, and the aberrations are used to shape the corneal onlay to provide a desired vision correction power, or to shape the person's cornea.

Exemplary uses of inventive compositions include use as sealants and adhesives for medical uses, and as polymeric formulations for biocompatible implants and matrices and drug delivery.

Contact lenses for use in eyes are provided and include a lens body and a plurality of microchannels defined in a posterior face of the lens body. The microchannels are structured to promote effective tear fluid exchange between an exposed surface of the eye and a surface of the eye covered by the lens body. Each of the microchannels preferably includes a substantially junctionless, convex surface along a major portion of a length of the microchannel.

Contact lenses for use in eyes are provided and include a lens body and a plurality of radially extending microchannels defined in the posterior face of the lens body. In one embodiment, the microchannels are sized and adapted to promote effective tear fluid exchange between an exposed surface of the eye and a surface of the eye covered by the lens body without substantially interfering with the optical zone function of the lens body.
