Apparatus for manufacturing multi-layer metal feedstock material for stamping shaped parts eliminates the need for rolls of metal at the stamping site. Multilayer metal feedstock material is assembled from multiple rolls of metal stock, then folded in a zig zag fashion, or 'Z-fold' configuration, whereby the multilayer metal assembly is stacked vertically, usually on conventional pallets, for ease of moving with a forklift or otherwise. The multilayer metal z-fold stack of material is then transported to a parts stamping operation where the material is used as it unfolds as a continuous feed to machines to produce shaped multilayer metal parts. This invention is most useful in making multilayer metal foil z-fold feedstock material and using the z-fold material as continuous feed to processes for making shaped multilayer metal foil parts. The layers may have non-metal layers of material, such as fiber, between the metal layers or on the outside of the metal layers. At the location of making the shaped parts from the feedstock material, the layers of the z-fold feedstock material may be separated and one or more of the layers treated, textured, embossed, etc., then reassembled into the stack which is fed to the stamping operation, all on a continuous basis. This enables the z-fold feedstock material to be made from smooth metal layers, which increases the density of the material and reduces the volume space required for storage of the z-fold material.

Apparatus and method for manufacture of multilayer metal products

Multilayer metal foil pads or panels for heat or sound insulation or shielding comprising two or more corrugated metal foil or metal sheet layers wherein a flat metal foil or metal sheet layer is positioned between each pair of corrugated layers. The corrugated layers and/or the flat layers may be embossed, patterned or textured to enhance performance of the pad or panel. A preferred pad or panel comprises an embossed, patterned or textured flat exterior layer adapted for contacting the surface to be insulated or shielded to provide air space between the pad or panel and the surface and to separate the first corrugated layer from the surface. Methods are provided for making the pads and panels, which are useful in automotive applications, food cooking devices and other uses.

Corrugated multilayer metal foil insulation panels and methods of making

A portable gas grill features a combination of quick heat up and quick cool down in a compact and truly portable self contained grill for camping, tailgating, and other activities. The gill includes a lower housing containing a multilayer metal foil insulation/reflector member, a grill surface, a radiant heating element, and a grill cover with a multilayer metal foil insulating/reflector member. The radiant heating element utilized in the gas grill includes a gas jet burner in combination with a heat radiating tube which contains the flame extending from the jet burner. The radiant heat generated by the radiant heating tube heats a grill surface of 170 square in. or greater to adequate grilling temperatures such as 700&deg; F. and higher.

Portable gas grill

The invention provides a grill configuration which enables a 2400 Watt or smaller electric heating element to provide cooking temperatures of at least 500.degree. F. when food is present on a grill area of at least 200 square inches. The electric grill includes an electric heating element and a multilayer metal sheet insert shaped to reflect radiation heat from the heating element to impinge on the food present on the grill surface. The multilayer metal sheet insert is preferably metal foil layers which provide maximum insulation and heat containment to increase the efficiency of the limited heat available from the electric heating element of the grill.

Electric barbecue grill

A multilayer metal sheet-polymer composite wherein the multilayer metal sheet side provides heat resistance and heat protection for the polymer side. The multilayer metal sheet component preferably comprises aluminum or stainless steel foils bonded to the polymeric component to form articles such as, conduits, panels, equipment housings and cooking devices.
