A sealed type motor-driven compressor includes a cylindrical motor housing and an annular stator core fastened to the interior of the motor housing. A method of assembling the compressor includes fastening the stator core to the motor housing by mechanically deforming at least one of the motor housing and the stator core. It is thus possible to set the fastening interference between the motor housing and the stator core to a sufficiently great level for suppressing loosening of the stator core with respect to the motor housing, which may otherwise be caused by a relatively high pressure produced by refrigerant gas.

Method of assembling a sealed type motor-driven compressor

A scroll type compressor includes a housing defining a discharge pressure region, a fixed scroll member having a fixed base plate and a fixed scroll wall, a movable scroll member having a movable base plate and a movable scroll wall, a fixed wall slidably supporting the movable scroll member, a back pressure chamber defined on a back surface side of the movable base plate. A supply passage connects the back pressure chamber to the discharge pressure region and passes through a sliding portion between the movable scroll member and the fixed wall. A clearance at the sliding portion varies in response to a position of the movable scroll member in a direction in which the movable scroll member approaches to or leaves from the fixed wall, whereby cross-sectional area of the clearance where gas passes is varied to adjust pressure in the back pressure chamber.

An electromagnetic actuator includes a cylinder, a stationary core and a movable core arranged in the cylinder, and a coil located about the cylinder. The movable core moves in the cylinder in accordance with an electromagnetic force, which is generated between the stationary core and the movable core based on the current supply to the coil. The cylinder includes a first cylindrical member made of nonmagnetic material, and a second cylindrical member made of magnetic material. The first cylindrical member surrounds the stationary core and the movable core. A part of the first cylindrical member in the vicinity of the movable core is made thin to form a small diameter portion. The small diameter portion is fitted to the second cylindrical member.

Electromagnetic actuator and method for manufacturing electromagnetic actuator, and control valve for variable displacement compressor using electromagnetic actuator

A control valve for a variable displacement compressor is provided. A retainer cylinder in the control valve includes a first cylindrical member made of non-magnetic material and a second cylindrical member having a bottom portion made of magnetic material. A shim is intervened a bottom surface of a plunger and inner bottom surface of the second cylindrical member. The retainer cylinder has good magnetic permeability between a coil and the plunger, even though the wall of the cylinder thickens to improve the withstanding pressure to internal refrigerant pressure.

Control valve in variable displacement compressor and method of manufacturing the same

A control valve is used for a variable displacement compressor installed in a refrigerant circuit of a vehicle air conditioner. The control valve has a valve housing. A valve chamber is defined in the valve housing. A valve body is accommodated in the valve chamber. A pressure sensing chamber is defined in the valve housing. A pressure sensing member separates the pressure sensing chamber into a first pressure chamber and a second pressure chamber. The pressure at a first location in the refrigerant circuit is applied to the first pressure chamber. The pressure at a second location in the refrigerant circuit, which is downstream of the first location, is applied to the second pressure chamber. The pressure sensing member moves the valve body in accordance with the pressure difference between the first pressure chamber and the second pressure chamber such that the displacement of the compressor is varied to counter changes of the pressure difference. At least one of the first pressure chamber and the second pressure chamber forms a part of the refrigerant circuit.

CONTROL VALVE USED FOR A VARIABLE DISPLACEMENT COMPRESSOR INSTALLED IN A REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT HAVING AT LEAST ONE OF A FIRST PRESSURE CHAMBER AND A SECOND PRESSURE CHAMBER FORMING PART OF THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT

A displacement control mechanism used for compressor is installed in a refrigerant circuit. The compressor has a bleed passage and a supply passage. The displacement control mechanism includes a first control valve and a second control valve. The first control valve includes a first valve body and a pressure sensitive member. The first valve body adjusts the opening size of the supply passage. The pressure sensitive member moves in accordance with a pressure in the refrigerant circuit. A pressure detection region is located downstream of the first valve body. The second control valve includes a second valve body. The second valve body adjusts the opening size of the bleed passage. The second valve body moves in accordance with the pressure of the pressure detection region. When the pressure of the pressure detection region increases, the second control valve decreases the opening size of the bleed passage. This permits to start with rapid cooling performance.

Displacement control mechanism for variable displacement type compressor

A scroll type compressor having a front housing, a rear housing, an intermediate outer shell portion arranged between the front and rear housing to form an integral stationary scroll element having a stationary end plate and a stationary spiral member, a movable scroll element having a movable end plate and a movable spiral element and being engaged with the stationary scroll element to define a plurality of compression chambers shifting and reducing in volume to compress refrigerant gas, containing therein an oil component, in response to an orbiting motion of the movable scroll element, a suction port formed in the intermediate outer shell portion to directly introduce the refrigerant gas into the compression chambers, and a discharge chamber in which the refrigerant gas after compression is discharged from the compression chambers. The rear housing having an oil-separating chamber for separating the oil component from the refrigerant gas after compression and an oil-storing chamber for storing therein the separated oil to be supplied to the interior of the front housing via an oil passage formed in the intermediate outer shell to cool and lubricate movable elements and portions of the compressor.

Scroll type compressor

A scroll-type compressor includes a front housing, a rear housing, and stationary and movable scrolls engaging with each other to define a plurality of compression chambers therebetween. The stationary scroll is connected to the rear housing to define a discharge chamber therebetween. The stationary and movable scrolls are provided between the front and rear housings so that the movable scroll moves along an orbiting path. A drive shaft extends through the front housing and is drivingly connected to the movable scroll. The rotation of the drive shaft moves the movable scroll along the orbiting path to shift the compression chambers from the periphery to the center of the scrolls with the volume of the chambers reducing. A slider plate, substantially in the form of a ring, for providing a sliding surface for the movable scroll, relative to the front housing, is disposed between the front housing and the movable scroll. The slider plate includes first and second slots which are disposed diametrically opposite to each other and extend radially and circumferentially, respectively. A pair of pins are provided for engagement with the first and second slots of the slider plate to lock and secure the slider plate to the front housing or to the movable scroll.

Scroll-type compressor with a slider plate for smoothing the orbiting

A scroll type compressor having a housing unit in which a movable scroll element and a stationary scroll element are received in such a relationship that the movable scroll element orbits about the center of the stationary scroll element. The scroll type compressor further having a mechanical reinforced rotation preventing unit for preventing rotation of the movable scroll element about its own axis, and the rotation preventing unit having first stationary pin fixed to an inner end face of the housing unit and second movable pin fixed to an end face of a base plate of the movable scroll element, and a ring engaged with the first and second rings. A thickness T1 between the outer circumference of the first pin and the inner edge of the inner end face of the housing unit is set to be equal to or larger than 2.4 mm. A thickness T2 between the outer circumference of the second pin and the outer circumference of the base plate of the movable scroll element is set to be equal to or larger than 2.7 mm. A radial wall thickness T3 of the ring between the outer and inner cylindrical surfaces thereof is set to be equal to or larger than 1.7 mm.

Scroll type compressor with a reinforced rotation preventing means

A compressor has a movable scroll supported on a bushing connected to a rotary shaft via an eccentric pin. The movable scroll and the bushing are disposed coaxial to the eccentric pin to rotate together with the eccentric pin. The movable scroll moves along a predetermined circular path around an axis of the rotary shaft to closely contact a fixed scroll, opposed to the movable scroll at a given portion to define a displaceable fluid pocket and compresses refrigerant gas introduced into the fluid pocket. The compressor comprises a first balance weight eccentrically supported on the eccentric pin for an integral rotation therewith. The first balance weight is arranged to generate first centrifugal force counteracting second centrifugal force generated in the movable scroll and the bushing based on the rotation of the movable scroll and the bushing. The first balance weight has a weight in a predetermined ratio to weights of the movable scroll and the bushing to cancel substantially 80 to 97 percents of the second centrifugal force with the first centrifugal force. Thus, the movable scroll is kept to move along the predetermined circular path.

Scroll compressor balancing

An improved scroll type compressor is disclosed. A moveable scroll is eccentrically connected to a rotary shaft and opposed to a fixed scroll for forming a compression chamber. The moveable scroll performs an orbital movement about an axis of the rotary shaft without rotating about its own axis. With the orbital movement, the moveable scroll reduces the volume of the compression chamber and compresses coolant gas therein. A fixed wall is disposed adjacent to the moveable scroll on the opposite side from the fixed scroll. The fixed wall receives a reaction force of the compressed gas applied to the moveable scroll. First elements disposed between the fixed wall and the moveable scroll transmit the reaction force from the moveable scroll to the fixed wall. Second elements are disposed independently from the first elements between the fixed wall and the moveable scroll for determining the orbit of the moveable scroll.

Scroll type compressor having reaction force transmission and rotation

A movable member slides on a fixed member. The movable member is made of aluminum alloy. An inner layer coats the movable member. The inner layer is made of a material capable of adhering to the aluminum alloy. An outer layer coats the inner layer and contacts the fixed member. The outer layer has greater hardness than the hardness of the inner coating layer.

Coating structure for a movable member in a compressor

Disclosed is a compressor which has a fixed scroll and a movable scroll. Defined between both scrolls is a compression chamber in order to provide compressed gas. A pressure receiving member receives compression reaction force of the compressed gas. A base plate is provided on the movable scroll. A turnable ring is disposed between the pressure receiving member and the base plate. The ring has the first and second surfaces respectively facing the pressure receiving member and the base plate. The first surface of the ring has a plurality of first elements circumferentially spaces and provided at predetermined intervals. A plurality of first recesses are provided in the pressure receiving member, with the first elements fitted into the first recesses respectively. The second surface of the ring has a plurality of second elements circumferentially spaced and provided at predetermined intervals. A plurality of second recesses are provided in the base plate, with the second elements fitted into the second recesses respectively. When the movable scroll revolves, the first and second elements move within the first and second recesses to prevent rotation of the movable scroll and the ring. To transmit the compression reaction force of the gas acting on the movable scroll to the pressure receiving member, the first and second surfaces of the ring are provided with a plurality of projections protruding toward the pressure receiving member and the base plate and having substantially spherical engagement surfaces to engage therewith.

Scroll type compressor equipped with mechanism for receiving reaction

A mechanism for allowing the orbital movement of an orbiting scroll with respect to a fixed scroll in a scroll type compressor which prevents the orbiting scroll from rotating around its own axis is disclosed. The orbiting scroll is eccentrically attached to a rotary shaft supported by a housing that encases the fixed and orbiting scrolls. A compression chamber is defined by the interfitting between the orbiting scroll and the fixed scroll. During the course of the orbiting scroll's rotation around the center axis line of a rotary shaft, the volume of a compression chamber decreases as the rotation progresses. Refrigerant gas in the compression chamber is compressed in this manner as the constant volume of gas within the compression chamber decreases in size according to the progression of the rotating spiral member. A balancing weight disposed on the eccentric shaft compensates for dynamic unbalancing generated as the orbiting scroll makes an orbital movement due to the rotation of the rotary shaft. This balancing weight engages a bushing which supports the orbiting scroll. A mechanism for automatically adjusting the radius of the orbital movement is disposed between the rotary shaft and the balancing weight. A spring for restricting the shifting on the eccentric shaft of both the weight and the bushing in the thrust direction is disposed between the weight and the bushing.

A scroll type refrigerant compressor having a stationary scroll unit including a spiral member, a movable scroll unit including an orbiting spiral member engaged with the stationary spiral member to define gas-pocket-like variable-volume compression chambers in which the refrigerant gas is compressed in response to a rotation of a drive shaft having an eccentrically arranged drive key member, a drive bushing member having an aperture formed therein in which the drive key of the drive shaft is inserted so as to cause an eccentric motion of the drive bushing member which is operatively engaged with the movable spiral member of the movable scroll unit to thereby drive an orbiting motion of the movable spiral member, and a mechanical space-control unit for suppressing an uncontrolled play of the drive bushing member to thereby move the movable scroll unit in a correct orbiting path with respect to the stationary scroll unit.
