A motor board of a capstan motor, which is made of a metallic material offering good heat dissipation is provided in a tape running apparatus in such a way as to face a circuit board thereof. A motor drive IC , into which drive circuits for driving and controlling a capstan motor , a drum motor and a loading motor is incorporated, are mounted on this motor board . The circuit board and the motor board are connected to each other by an inter-board connector . Tape running apparatus, motor board, and capstan motor

A pulse width modulated brushless electric motor employs a conductive metal screw or similar connector to create a common potential between the stator core and the iron substrate on which the motor drive circuit is mounted. By approximately setting the common potential to, for example, the base line of the power source and motor drive circuit, the noise electromagnetically generated by the pulse width modulation is suppressed.

Brushless motor

A direct PWM brushless motor has a motor main body mounted on a metal substrate and a motor drive circuit formed on a circuit substrate that is separated from the metal substrate. The motor drive circuit includes switching elements that are directly turned on and off, in which a switching pulse width for the switching elements is modulated to control current conducting through drive coils. The direct PWM brushless motor has a wiring cable connection device for connecting the motor main body and a fixed potential of the motor drive circuit, and a conduction device that conductively connects a metal plate portion of the metal substrate to the wiring cable connection device.

Brushless motor, method for operating brushless motor and method for manufacturing brushless motor

A motor comprises a rotor having an index signal generating portion on a rotor magnet and a magnetic resistance sensor having a magneto-sensitive surface. The sensor is positioned on a stator of the motor facing the index signal generating portion of the rotor with a predetermined gap. The sensor functions to sense an index signal in the magnetic field generated by the index signal generating portion during the rotation of the rotor. A speed detection circuit is included for detecting the speed of the motor based on the detection results of the magnetic resistance sensor. The index generating portion forms a magnetic area in which a magnetic flux intensity in a plane orthogonal to the principal magnetic flux of the index signal generating portion is greater than the rated sensitivity of the magnetic resistance sensor. The magnetic resistance sensor is positioned on the magnetized area such that its magneto-sensitive surface is parallel to the plane. The magnetic resistance sensor has an output which is in a saturated state.

A rotary cylinder device has a stationary cylinder with a stationary shaft; a rotary cylinder rotatably mounted on the stationary shaft, the rotary cylinder having an opening on one side thereof which is opposite to the other side where the rotary cylinder confronts with the stationary cylinder; a signal recording and reproducing magnetic head provided on the periphery of the rotary cylinder; an electric motor including: a rotor member of the electric motor, which is provided in the opening of the rotary cylinder and secured to the rotary cylinder; a stator member of the electric motor, which is confronted with the rotor member; and a first magnetic shielding member arranged to cover the opening of the rotary cylinder.

A bearing system comprises a motor shaft, bearings that support the shaft in a rotatable manner, a cylindrical bearing holder that holds the bearings and a cylindrical sleeve on the inner periphery of the bearing holder. The cylindrical sleeve is either made of metal of a material of high rigidity. The cylindrical sleeve, furthermore, is either integrally formed or press-fitted on the periphery of the bearing holder.

Bearing system

An electric motor comprises a substrate, a bearing holder rigidly fitted to the substrate, a shaft held by a bearing in the bearing holder and a rotor rigidly fitted to the shaft and arranged vis-a-vis a side of the substrate to rotate around the shaft. It also comprises a stationary member fitted to the bearing holder for holding components other than the motor included in an apparatus. Such an arrangement is particularly advantageous for a video tape recorder as it allows a simple and common standard to be implemented for mounting a tape feeding system, a signal retrieving system and other systems of the video tape recorder so that those components may be mounted with improved accuracy. Moreover, with such an arrangement, the number of components of a video tape recorder may be reduced to enhance manufacturing productivity and lower manufacturing cost.
