This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to using protected beacon frames in wireless communications. A device may determine a beacon management element of a beacon frame body and may determine an integrity group key identifier of the beacon management element, wherein the integrity group key identifier is associated with a basic service set (BSS). The device may determine, based on the integrity group key identifier, a management integrity check (MIC) field of the beacon management element. The device may generate a beacon frame including the beacon frame body. The device may send the beacon frame.

Enhanced beacon frames in wireless communications

Methods, apparatus, and computer-readable media are described to encode, by a first station (STA), a polling signal for periodic transmission to a second STA during each air activity instance of a plurality of air activity instances. The first STA detects an interface between a MAC layer and a software stack of a communication protocol is in a low-power state. The communication protocol is associated with a communication link between the first STA and the second STA. An empty packet from the second STA is decoded. The empty packet is received in response to the polling signal transmitted during an air activity instance of the plurality of air activity instances. The periodicity of the periodic transmission of the polling signal is adjusted based on the detected low-power state and the decoded empty packet.

Idle connection optimization for wireless devices

This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to synched group key rekeying. A device may determine a first security key used for group-addressed management frames. The device may perform a security key rekeying to use a second security key in place of the first security key. The device may cause to send the second security key to a first station device of one or more station devices. The device may cause to send a first beacon frame comprising a switch announcement information element (IE) associated with the second security key. The device may cause to send a second beacon frame, wherein the second beacon frame does not comprise the switch announcement IE. The device may determine to switch to the second security key based on the switch announcement IE.

Synched group key rekeying

This disclosure describes methods, apparatuses, and devices related to optimizing connectivity between devices. A device is disclosed that may determine first information received from a client device, wherein the first information comprises at least one of an authentication request, an association request, or pre-association discovery request, and wherein the first information includes an indication of a first device type. The device may further determine a first virtual access point from a group of virtual access points associated with the wireless device based at least in part on the first device type, wherein the first virtual access point has first wireless resources. The device may further associate the client device with the first virtual access point. The device may further cause to send to the client device data based at least in part on the first wireless resources.

Access point connectivity optimization

A network profile grouping method for a communication device is described. In a network profile grouping method, wireless characteristics of a plurality of wireless access points (APs) are determined. Two or more APs of the plurality of APs are matched together based on the determined wireless characteristics. A group profile identification (ID) is assigned to the matched two or more APs to group the matched two or more APs together.

In a communication device and communication method, channel quality information for first and the second communication protocols is calculated. Further, allocation information can be generated for the first and the second communication protocols based on the corresponding channel quality information. Sequence numbers of corresponding data frames to be transmitted by the communication device can be generated. Further, the data frames and corresponding sequence numbers can be allocated to the first and the second communication protocols based on the allocation information.

Multiband data delivery device and method

An apparatus comprises a memory and processing circuitry that are configured to implement a first network control protocol (NCP) MAC layer configured to handle MAC layer communications of the first NCP, and sniffer edge circuitry. The sniffer edge circuitry is configured to communicate with the first NCP MAC layer and a second NCP MAC layer and to capture events related to second NCP (WiGig) communications. These captured events are communicated over a dedicated sniffer network, and packet contents communicated between the second NCP MAC layer and the second NCP stack are secure from the sniffer edge circuitry. The apparatus receives a distributed common time reference and uses this to timestamp the captured events.

Some demonstrative embodiments include apparatuses, devices, systems and methods of a Fast Basic Service Set (BSS) Transition (FT). For example, a wireless station (STA) may be configured to process at least one frame from at least one advertiser Access Point (AP) over a first frequency band while the STA is associated with a current AP over the first frequency band, the frame including a Multiband Mobility Domain Element (MMDE) corresponding to a target AP; and to transmit to the advertiser AP an FT authentication request frame over the first frequency band to request an FT from the current AP on the first frequency band to the target AP on the second frequency band, the FT request frame including the MMDE corresponding to the target AP.

Apparatus, system and method of fast basic service set (BSS) transition (FT)

Some demonstrative embodiments include apparatuses, systems, devices and/or methods of packet coalescing. For example, an apparatus may include circuitry and logic configured to cause a first wireless station to process a notification from a second wireless station including transmit (Tx) packet coalescing information, the Tx packet coalescing information including packet type information to define one or more packet types for packet coalescing at the first wireless station, and a coalescing threshold indicator to indicate a coalescing threshold to limit the packet coalescing at the first wireless station; to coalesce a plurality of packets for the second wireless station by buffering the plurality of packets at the first wireless station, the plurality of packets having at least one of the one or more packet types; and, based at least on the coalescing threshold, to process one or more buffered packets of the plurality of packets for transmission to the second wireless station.

Some demonstrative embodiments include apparatuses, systems and/or methods of selecting a wireless communication channel to communicate in a wireless communication network. For example, an apparatus may include a channel selector to select at a network controller of a first wireless communication network a first wireless communication channel to communicate between the network controller and one or more wireless communication devices, to detect on the first wireless communication channel a frame from a second wireless communication network, and based on a medium access control (MAC) address of the frame, to select between remaining on the first wireless communication channel and selecting a second wireless communication channel to communicate between the network controller and the one or more wireless communication devices.

Apparatus, system and method of selecting a wireless communication channel

Systems, apparatus, and methods to pair a set of accessory devices with a source device through use of a unique device set identifier. Embodiments include a source device adapted to obtain a device set identifier from a device that is part of a set of devices, from a tag, dongle, or code associated with the set of devices, or from a package or carton containing one or more devices of the set of devices, and then automatically pair the source device with each device. Embodiments include a registration process facilitated by the unique device set identifier. The device set identifier including information corresponding to the devices in the set of devices to facilitate registration of the devices, as well as pairing the devices in the set of devices to a source device. Pairing of activation of the set of devices may be conditioned on successful completion of a registration process.

Multi-device pairing and provisioning

Generally, this disclosure provides devices, systems and methods for improved transmit power adaptation for platforms with wireless communication capability. A device may include a memory to store a first transmission (Tx) power level and a Tx power determination module to receive a second Tx power level from a device driver, the second Tx power level provided from a Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) associated with a platform hosting the device. The Tx power determination module may further determine a third Tx power level based on a comparison of the first Tx power level and the second Tx power level. The device may further include a radio frequency (RF) transmission module to transmit a wireless signal at the third Tx power level.

System and method for improved transmit power adaptation for wireless platform

A mobile communication device may include a radio transceiver and a baseband processing circuit adapted to interact with the radio transceiver to transmit and receive radio signals. The baseband processing circuit may be configured to provide target criteria to a proxy discovery device, the target criteria characterizing a desired wireless connection of the mobile communication device, receive a proxy report from the proxy discovery device detailing discovery results that satisfy the target criteria, and select a provider device that satisfies the target criteria to establish a wireless connection with based on the proxy report.

Radio communication devices and methods for performing wireless peer-to-peer discovery

Techniques are disclosed that can be implemented as a system configured for image matching-based pointing and/or selection from information presented in an image displayed by a projection device. A pointing device configured as described herein may be pointed at a target portion of an image displayed by a projection device and allowed to capture an image inclusive of that target portion. In turn, the captured image data may be compared with data pertaining to the original displayed image. The resultant pointing location data can be used to generate one or more pointing indicators within the original image, and the projection device may display the resultant annotated image on screen, in some cases in real time and/or with precision resolution of a single pixel. A subsequent user selection can be made based on the known location of the pointing indicator. The techniques provide for more native human-machine interaction than existing approaches.
