A butenedioic acid monoalkyl ester-copolymerized acrylic elastomer containing 0.1-30% by mole of unreacted butenedioic acid monoalkyl ester on the basis of carboxyl groups copolymerized in the acrylic elastomer or its cross-linkable composition. The cross-linkable composition can give cross-linking products having distinguished vulcanization characteristics and stably showing good compression set characteristics.

Acrylic elastomer and its composition

An acrylic elastomer composition, which comprises an acrylic elastomer obtained by copolymerization with 0.1 to 10% by weight of fumaric acid mono-lower alkyl ester on the basis of total monomer mixture, an aromatic diamine compound vulcanizing agent and a guanidine compound vulcanization promoter is distinguished in metal corrosion resistance, oil resistance, compression set characteristics, etc. and is effectively applicable as a vulcanization molding material for seal members or hose members to be used at contact sites with metal members, oil, etc.

Acrylic elastomer composition

An acrylic elastomer composition, which comprises a carboxyl group-containing acrylic elastomer, a polyfunctional isocyanate compound or a blocked isocyanate, and at least one of a guanidine, a quaternary onium salt, a tertiary amine and a tertiary phosphine has an improved scorch resistance without lowering the normal state physical properties, heat resistance and compression set characteristics of the resulting vulcanization products, when the polyfunctional isocyanate used, or has an improved scorch resistance, particulary at high temperatures, without lowering the vulcanization speed when the blocked isocyanate is used.

A novel acrylic copolymer elastomer comprising �I! an alkyl acrylate; �II! (a) CH.sub.a .dbd.CRCOOR.sub.2 OCOR.sub.1, (b) CH.sub.2 .dbd.CRCO�O(CH.sub.2) pCO!qOR.sub.1 or (c) CH.sub.2 .dbd.CRCOOR.sub.2 �CO(CH.sub.2)pO!qCOR.sub.1 ; and �III! (1) CH.sub.2 .dbd.CRCOO(CH.sub.2)nPhOR', (2) CH.sub.2 .dbd.CRCOO(CH.sub.2)nOCO(CH.sub.2)mPhOR', (3) CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHOCO(CH.sub.2)mPhOR', (4) CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHOCO(CH.sub.2)nOCO(CH.sub.2)mPhOR', (5) CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHO(CH.sub.2)nOCO(CH.sub.2)mPhOR' or (6) CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHPh(CH.sub.2)nOCO(CH.sub.2)mPhOR' where R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R.sub.1 is an alkyl group, R.sub.2 is an alkylene group, R' is a hydrogen atom, an acyl group or a trialkylsilyl group and Ph is a phenylene group, provides a blend rubber having an improved cold resistance and an intermediate heat resistance between the heat resistance of acrylic copolymer elastomer and that of fluorine-containing elastomer, when blended with the fluorine-containing elastomer.

A rubber compound comprising a fluorine rubber component and an acrylic rubber component is produced by adding an acrylic monomer to an aqueous emulsion of fluorine-containing elastomer obtained by emulsion polymerization, using a fluorine-containing surfactant, followed by radical polymerization reaction. The obtained rubber compound can satify both of vulcanization moldability and heat aging resistance, and is at a lower cost than the expensive fluorine rubber.
