The rotary tablet press has a housing including a compression section () with a turret () including a die disc (), a top punch guide (), a bottom punch guide (), and a plurality of punches (). The turret () defines an axial direction (a) and a radial direction (r), the punches being arranged at a predefined radius defining a pitch (p) of the turret. The rotary tablet press comprises a bearing assembly () connected to the turret () and providing support to at least one auxiliary component of the rotary tablet press and the bearing assembly comprises a bearing () and a support means () for the at least one auxiliary component, and the bearing () is positioned outside the pitch (p) of the turret in the radial direction (r).

A method for controlling a tablet press comprises the steps of consecutively supplying material into each die of a die table, subjecting the material to a pre-compression and a main-compression, whereby the main-compression is performed under substantially constant compression force and variable resulting tablet thickness of the individual tablets, and measuring a weight value representative of the weight of the material fed into the die. The quantity of material supplied to each die is regulated on the basis of a deviation between a previously measured weight value and a first set value. The weight value is measured during pre-compression of the material located in each die. A rotary tablet press is also disclosed.

Method for controlling a tablet press

A system for rejection of tablets produced in a rotary tablet press comprises pan ejection nozzle for sorting out defective tablets. The ejection nozzle is supplied with compressed gas through a supply line having an inlet end for connection with a source of compressed gas and an outlet end communicating with the ejection nozzle. The supply line is provided with a control valve controlled by a control unit in order to open the supply line when a defective tablet has been detected by the control unit. Furthermore, the supply line is provided with a sensor arranged between the control valve and the inlet end of the supply line and adapted to detect a variable indicative of a gas flow through the control valve in order for the control unit to generate an error signal in the case of malfunction of the control valve.
