An imprint lithography apparatus is disclosed that includes a support structure configured to hold an imprint template. The apparatus further includes an actuator located between the support structure and a side of the imprint template, when the imprint template is held by the support structure, configured to apply a force to the imprint template and a force sensor between the support structure and a side of the imprint template, when the imprint template is held by the support structure.

Imprint lithography

An apparatus for manufacture of an electrowetting device is provided. The apparatus includes a first and second support plate feeding system to provide a first and second support plate respectively. The first and second support plate feeding systems include a first and second element respectively. The first and second elements are positioned relative to each other so as to angle the first support plate relative to the second support plate such that the first support plate and the second support plate are brought closer together as the first support plate and the second support plate are fed by the first element and the second element, respectively, so as to provide, during the manufacture of the electrowetting device, a cavity between the first support plate and the second support plate. The apparatus also includes a first and second fluid supply system for supply of a first and second fluid respectively.

Method of manufacture of an electrowetting device

The subject matter disclosed herein relates to an electrowetting display comprising: a transparent substrate including glass spacers surrounded by recessed regions corresponding to pixel regions, a layer of transparent conductive material on the glass spacers, color filter material in the recessed regions, and a transparent support plate covering the recessed regions and the glass spacers, wherein the transparent support plate includes an electrowetting oil.

Electrowetting display structures

A method of depositing an imprintable medium onto a target area of a substrate for imprint lithography is disclosed. The method includes moving the substrate, a print head comprising a nozzle to eject an imprintable medium onto the substrate, or both, relative to the other in a first direction across the target area while ejecting a first series of droplets of imprintable medium onto the substrate and moving the substrate, the print head, or both, relative to the other in a second opposing direction across the target area while ejecting a second series of droplets of imprintable medium onto the substrate on or adjacent to droplets from the first series of droplets.

A method of providing a layer of a first fluid and a layer of a second fluid on a first area of a support plate of an electrowetting device includes providing an emulsion of dispersed first fluid and continuous second fluid, the emulsion including an amount of the second fluid for forming the layer of the second fluid.

Manufacturing method for an electrowetting device

A method of manufacturing an electrowetting device including forming a cavity between first and second support plates which narrows towards a constriction. The cavity is at least partly filled with second fluid to provide a reservoir for dispensing second fluid between the first and second support plates.

Method of manufacturing an electrowetting device

A method for fabricating an electrowetting display may include disposing an etching barrier on a substrate to delineate a first region and a second region of the substrate, the etching barrier covering the second region of the substrate; etching the first region of the substrate to form an etched first region of the substrate, wherein at least a portion of the second region of the substrate is a protrusion formed in response to the etching of the first region; removing the etching barrier; disposing a black matrix on the second region of the substrate; and forming a spacer over the black matrix disposed on the second region of the substrate.

Fabrication method for top plate and spacers for an electrowetting display

An electrowetting display device includes a first support plate including a first wall and a second support plate including a spacer. The spacer protrudes from the second support plate towards the first support plate. The device includes a spacer contact surface for contact by a surface of the spacer, which at least partly overlaps the spacer contact surface. The spacer contact surface is at least partly formed by an enlarged wall portion of the first wall. The enlarged wall portion is enlarged compared with a different portion of the first wall.

Electrowetting display device

A method of manufacturing a support plate for an electrowetting device includes providing a first hydrophobic layer on a substrate, reducing the hydrophobicity of a surface of the first hydrophobic layer and providing a second hydrophobic layer on at least part of the surface with reduced hydrophobicity.

Electrowetting device

A method of manufacturing an electrowetting device including dispensing a fluid from a channel and onto a surface of a support plate. The channel is formed by a part of the surface of the support plate, an interface between the fluid and another fluid, and a further surface which is for example a surface of a roller.

A method of manufacturing an electrowetting element includes: providing a layer of a first liquid on a first area of a first support plate; providing a layer of a second liquid on the layer of first liquid; and providing a second support plate on the layer of the second liquid by moving the second support plate along a surface of the layer of the second liquid.

An electrowetting display device includes a wall layer having a first part located on a first area of a surface of a hydrophobic layer and a second part located on a second area of the surface. The second area has a lower hydrophobicity than the first area.

A method provides a layer of a first liquid on a first area of a surface using an elongate applicator, an elongate gap being formed between the applicator and the surface, the gap being filled with an elongate globule of the first liquid, and an amount of a second liquid being arranged in contact with the applicator and with the globule, the first liquid and the second liquid being immiscible and the first area having a higher wettability for the first liquid than for the second liquid. The method includes applying a relative motion between the applicator and the surface, wherein the amount of second liquid being arranged only on a trailing side of the applicator.
