An additive formulation for reduction or prevention of microbially induced corrosion in concrete, cementitious material (such as mortar or grout), or a combination thereof. The additive formulation comprises a Quat Silane and a fungicide, wherein the ratio of the Quat Silane to the fungicide in the formulation is in a range of about 10:1 to about 1:10, preferably in a range of about 5:1 to about 1:5.

Antimicrobial cementitious composition, method and article

The invention is a radiation curable coating containing an antimicrobial agent, where upon irradiation with UV light, the radiation curable coating rapidly cures to a polymeric coating. The polymeric coating has durable antimicrobial properties, being especially effective at preventing the growth ofandon wood flooring and furniture. The major components in the radiation curable coating are a urethane acrylic oligomer, a radiation cure package, an antimicrobial agent, a cross-linking agent, and optionally, an additive package. The radiation curable urethane oligomer is a relatively short chain backbone urethane polymer that is end capped with a radiation curable moiety, where the moiety is an acrylic. The cross-linking agent is one or more monomers used to lower the viscosity and promote cross-linking, and include acrylate esters of mono-, di-, tri-, or tetrafunctional alcohols. The radiation cure package contains at least one photoinitiator.

An antimicrobial concentrate is manufactured from a carrier, one or more antimicrobial agents and optionally one or more modifiers, the carrier having a modified ethylene polymer and optionally an olefin polymer and a method of producing the concentrate by producing the carrier, having the modified ethylene polymer and optionally the olefin polymer, then compounding the carrier with one or more antimicrobial agents and optionally one or more modifiers, to form the concentrate, which does not exhibit chalking and clumping of antimicrobial agent on the surface thereof. An antimicrobial blend that is manufactured from the antimicrobial concentrate, a resin and optionally an additive and a method of producing the blend by combining the concentrate with the resin. An antimicrobial product that is formed by producing a blend, then molding or extruding the blend to form the product, which provides desired antimicrobial efficacy and does not exhibit taste and odor issues associated with food and liquids meant for human consumption, due to leaching of the antimicrobial agent from the surface of the polymeric matrix.

An antimicrobial blend that is manufactured from the antimicrobial concentrate, a resin and optionally an additive, and method of producing the blend by combining the concentrate with the resin. An antimicrobial product, containing a non-yellowing agent, that is formed by producing the blend then molding or extruding the blend to form the product, which provides for desired antimicrobial efficacy and does not exhibit either taste and odor issues associated with food and liquids meant for human consumption, due to leaching of the antimicrobial agent from the surface of the polymeric matrix, or yellowing of the polymeric matrix of the product.
