A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium provide automatic geosteering by automatically updating a geosteering structure model based upon observed data gathered during a drilling operation. In some embodiments, automatic updates may be used to introduce vertical shifts into a geosteering structure model to match synthetic log data with observed log data. In addition, in some embodiments an evolutionary algorithm may be used to introduce such vertical shifts and thereby provide an optimal match between the synthetic and observed log data.

A method can include providing seismic data for a subsurface region that includes a reflector; decomposing at least a portion of the seismic data using principal component analysis (PCA) to generate at least one principal component; and outputting output data based at least in part on the at least one principal component. Various other apparatuses, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.

A method for determining spatial distribution of a property within a volume of subsurface formations includes generating an initial model of spatial distribution of a property of the formations using available data related to the property distribution within the volume. A forward model is generated in the wavenumber domain of spatial distribution of a potential field. Measurements of a physical parameter having a potential field obtained at spaced apart locations above the volume and/or in at least one wellbore penetrating the volume are entered. A revised model of spatial distribution of the potential field is generated by interpolating the measurements of the parameter. The interpolating is performed in the wavenumber domain. A revised model of spatial distribution of the physical property is generated by inversion in the wavenumber domain of the revised potential field model.

A method for predicting subterranean formation properties of a wellsite. The method includes obtaining seismic data for an area of interest, obtaining an initial seismic cube using the seismic data, and obtaining a shifted seismic cubes using the seismic data, where each of the shifted seismic cubes is shifted from the initial seismic cube obtaining a shifted seismic cubes using the seismic data, where each of the shifted seismic cubes is shifted from the initial seismic cube. The method further includes generating a neural network using the initial seismic cube, the shifted seismic cubes, and well log data and applying the neural network to the seismic data to obtain a model for the area of interest, where the model is used to adjust an operation of the wellsite.
