A method for operator controlled mobility for user equipment is described. The method includes assigning a set of radio access technologies from a plurality of radio access technologies to a user equipment. The set of radio access technologies is assigned based at least in part on a subscribed level of service corresponding to the user equipment. An indication of the assigned set of radio access technologies is signaled to the user equipment. The user equipment generates a measurement report for a subset of a neighbor cell list. The subset represents radio access technologies in the neighbor cell list that are also in the set of assigned radio access technologies. The measurement report is transmitted to the base station. Apparatus are also described.

Method, apparatus, and system providing operator controlled mobility for user equipment

Apparatus, methods and computer program products operate an electronic device to receive through from a wireless communications network a prioritized list of radio access technologies; to store the prioritized list of radio access technologies in a memory of the electronic device; and to consult the prioritized list of radio access technologies during cell selection and reselection operations. In variants the radio access technologies listed in the prioritized list of radio access technologies can be E-UTRAN, UTRAN or GERAN. In a further variant to consult the prioritized list may mean to compare at least one of a signal measurement and a quality measurement with at least one threshold established for a certain radio access technology appearing in the prioritized list, and to select/reselect to the certain radio access technology only if the at least one of the signal measurement and the quality measurement exceeds the threshold.

Apparatus, method and computer program product providing priority setting for multi-rat interworking

A user equipment receives from a network a transmitted (broadcast) access mode indicator that indicates whether a close subscriber group CSG network is being operated as open or close, and if it indicates open a user equipment UE that is not a registered member of the CSG is allowed access to the close subscriber group network as a guest member. The CSG network can provide higher priority services to its registered members by differentiating them over guest members by an indication, received from each UE in its RADIO RESOURCE CONTROL CONNECTION REQUEST message, whether it is registered or a guest. The CSG can also transmit its ID/name for display at the UE so the UE may select whether and which CSG to join.

Access control for closed subscriber groups

The invention proposes a method for handing over a session between a source network which provides a first connection type domain and a target network which provides the first connection type domain and a second connection type domain, comprising informing a network node (e.g., a user equipment (UE)), before performing a handover from the source network to the target network, a preferred transfer domain in the target network. The invention also proposes a corresponding network node and a network control element.

Fast combinational voice call continuity from LTE to 2G/3G CS domain

An adjacent cell is determined to be a private cell, and then a measurement report of it that includes an identifier for the private cell is sent from a UE to the UE's serving network node. Methods, apparatus and computer readable media storing a program are detailed. In exemplary non-limiting embodiments: the identifier is at least a TA ID for the private cell's CSG network, where the UE receives the TA ID over a broadcast channel/system information of the serving network node; the TA ID may be a short TA ID received over a primary broadcast channel of the serving network node; the identifier comprises the TA ID and either a LI cell ID or a CSG cell ID; and if the UE is not a member of the CSG network it sends the measurement report only in response to a command received from the serving network node.

Closed subscriber group measurement reporting

In a radio system having at least one base station that is part of a public mobile network, at least one mobile terminal communicates with the at least one base station, a local breakout service network provides Internet protocol gateway services. A serving base station of a mobile terminal is configured to provide the local breakout service to the Internet protocol gateway while retaining user access control and a remote Internet protocol gateway of a packet core network of the public mobile network for the mobile terminal; to provide information on neighboring cells in which the local breakout service can continue; to make a handover decision based on measurement reports received from the mobile terminal; and to transfer user context data including local breakout service related information to a target base station during handover for providing mobility within the local breakout service area for the mobile terminal.

The second network communicates with the first network. The mobile device sends registration information to the first network. The third network sends the registration information to the interworking unit. The interworking unit sends the registration information to the second network to provide a communication link between the mobile device and the second network.

Access verification is adaptively done using an identifier of a first or a second length, by comparing a field of a node address that has the determined first or second length against a locally stored access list. At least the compared field of the node address is either added to a locally stored list of cell selection candidate nodes where the access list is allowed identifiers, or excluded from it where the access list is restricted identifiers. The node identifier is in three sections. The first section is service type, which the UE can use to determine whether or not it is restricted/allowed. The first length is the length of the second section, which is a service area ID of a group of network nodes. The second length is the length of the second section plus the third section, which identifies one node of the group of network nodes.

Forbidden tracking area optimization for private/home networks

A method of managing access areas in a communication system is disclosed. In the method information regarding a detected access area is received from at least one mobile device, the detected access area being an access area that is not included in a set of available access areas. Potential of the detected access area is then predicted based on the information received from the at least one mobile device. A decision is then made, based on the predicted potential, if the detected access area can be included into the set of available access areas.
