A device for controlling a butt welding machine includes a pressure equalizing hydraulic slide valve connected to a manifold between the rod space of a clamping hydraulic cylinder and a reversible hydraulic slide valve coupled to both the delivery and drain manifolds of a hydraulic fluid supply system. Upon upsetting, the rod space communicates through the pressure equalizing hydraulic slide valve with the drain manifold, providing the same pressure above and beneath the piston and releasing a part of the clamping force. Provision is made for a programmed control unit or timer for energizing electromagnets adapted for switching the pressure equalizing hydraulic slide valve and a follow-up or tracking slide valve of a hydraulic drive adapted for carrying welded parts.

Device for controlling butt welding machine

The base of the apparatus has the form of a claw clamp with two grips for gripping a rail that are kinematically linked with a clamping cylinder. The apparatus incorporates an upper cutter and side cutters, mounted so that, with the claw clamp closed, the cutting edges of the cutters form an outline embracing the cross-sectional perimeter of the rail. Each side cutter is hinged to the respective grip and mounted thereon for a displacement parallel to the axis of symmetry of the outline formed by the cutting edges of the cutters. The upper cutter is kinematically linked with the rod of the clamping cylinder via a clearance take-up mechanism which provides for lifting the upper cutter and the side cutters hinged thereto to engage the side cutters with the rail foot underside.

Apparatus for removing flash from resistance butt-weld joints in rails

A device for removing flash from rails after resistance butt welding, mounted on a welding machine case and split along the vertical axis of the rail, comprising three cutters embracing the rail along the entire cross-sectional perimeter thereof and coupled with a hydraulic cylinder drive, one of said cutters is pivotally mounted on said case, split along the vertical axis thereof and contacts the rail rolling surface, while the two side cutters which embrace the sides of the rail head, the web and the base flange of the rail are arranged symmetrically relative to the vertical axis of the case and hinged thereto, the top portions of said side cutters being linked by an articulated rod.
