Breathing equipment for use under water, or in a non-respiratory atmosphere, and including a breathing mask (1), a mouth-piece or the like, and a respiratory circuit (2) with a volumetrically variable gas accumulator (7). In addition, there is included a metering bottle (26) connected to the respiratory circuit via a valve device (12), which alternatingly connects the bottle to a source (9) of fresh respiratory gas for filling the bottle and to the circuit for emptying the bottle. The valve device (12) is adapted to regulate filling and emptying the bottle (26) in response to the respiratory cycle, such that fresh respiratory gas is supplied to the circuit (2) during each such cycle. The device (12) is suitably implemented so that the amount filling the metering bottle (26) is adjusted in response to respiratory volume.

Breathing apparatus

A carrying holder for a gas cylinder in a respirator is provided with a device for attachment and detachment of the cylinder in the carrying holder. The device includes a recess provided on the carrying holder, and is adapted to receive a support plate provided on the valve of the gas cylinder, and also a locking latch which, in the locking position, grips a support surface on the valve. The locking latch rotates around a shaft and is activated by a spring to assume the locked position.

A rescue type breathing apparatus which includes a hood and a face mask incorporated inside the hood. During a first phase of the inhalation cycle a breathing gas is supplied to the face mask from the gas container through a bladder. After the bladder has been emptied breathing gas in a second phase of the inhalation cycle is supplied from the hood and the gas container.

Respirator

A pressure regulator has a first and a second chamber which are separated by a movable piston varying the size of the chambers and which are in fluid contact with one another through a channel extending in the movable piston. The piston has a greater pressure surface area in the first chamber than in the second chamber. A high-pressure chamber beneath the bottom of the second chamber, has an aperture disposed in the bottom of the second chamber. A valve seat is disposed in the second chamber and cooperates with the movable piston to form a throttle between the high-pressure chamber and the second chamber. A high-pressure piston disposed in the high-pressure chamber projects into the second chamber through the first aperture and is displaceable in its longitudinal direction therethrough. A second aperture is provided at the end of the high-pressure piston which faces the second chamber. Also, a channel in the high-pressure piston extends from the second aperture throughout the entire high-pressure piston. The regulator may include a warning device. It may also be used to ensure a constant gas flow to, for example, an emergency escape breathing apparatus.
