A method of manufacturing a wind turbine blade shell part is described. Fibre mats and a root end insert are laid up in a mould part in a layup procedure by use of an automated layup system. The fibre mats are laid up by use of a buffer so that the fibre mats may continuously be laid up on the mould surface, also during a cutting procedure. The root end insert is prepared in advance and mounted on a mounting plate. The root end insert is lowered onto the mould by use of the mounting plate and a lowering mechanism. After the wind turbine blade shell has been moulded, the mounting plate is removed.

System and method for assisting in the manufacture of a wind turbine blade shell

The present invention relates to a device comprising a fiber-reinforced part and including at least one system comprising at least one optical fiber as well as connecting means adapted for connection of light emitting means and light receiving means to the optical fiber, said optical fiber comprising a number of reflecting structures. One object of the invention is to provide means suitable for use in providing compensation for temperature change in strain measurement, which may be built into fiber-reinforced parts of a device. This is obtained by having holding means adapted to hold one or more loops formed on the optical fibre, in a way where at least one loop may substantially freely change length when subject to a change in temperature.

The present invention relates to a connector box adapted to be at least partly embedded in a fiber-reinforced part of a wind turbine, where said connector box comprises a flexible base part and a sealing part. The sealing part seals off and protects at least one compartment between the sealing part and the base part during manufacture of said fiber-reinforced part, but can be partly removed after manufacture making said compartment accessible. The base part is adapted to fasten the connector box in the fiber-reinforced part by having a larger circumference near its bottom than near its top. Further, the invention relates to such a connector box fixating a part of an element in the compartment of the box and making a second part of the element accessible from the compartment after manufacture.

The invention relates to aspects of a method of registering lightning strikes in the blade of a wind turbine, use of such method, a system of exercising the method. The method according to the invention of registering lightning strikes involve that the method comprises that the lightning strike is captured in a receptor arranged in the blade () of the wind turbine, and the lightning current is conducted completely or partially through at least one electric resistor (), thereby heating it, and that it is registered at least that the temperature of the resistor is or was at some point increased. The heating of the electric resistor, ie the increase in temperature, provides simple and reliable registration. This can be extended to also comprise measurement of the amount of energy contained in the lightning current in a very robust and hence very suitable manner for the task. By the invention it is acknowledged that if a lightning current is conducted through a suitable electric resistor, this will 'capture' a share of the amount of energy in the same manner as eg an electric radiator or a furnace, ie the resistor is heated by the current as a function of the voltage and the duration and hence of the amount of energy.
