A method, for example, is described in the present application. Such a method can include detecting or establishing a circuit-switched call. The method can also include establishing a voice-over-internet-protocol standby call in parallel to the circuit-switched call. The method can additionally include activating the voice-over-internet-protocol standby call to become an active voice-over-internet protocol call when a handover situation is detected. The method can further include releasing resources of the circuit-switched call when the voice-over-internet-protocol standby call becomes the active voice-over-internet protocol call.

Method of handover of circuit-switched voice call to packet-switched voice call

A method includes, during an ongoing call of a wireless user terminal in one of a circuit switched domain or a packet switched domain, initiating a handover procedure; setting parameters allowing the other domain to determine the actual resources needed to continue the call in the other domain, sending an indication of these parameters towards a network element of the other domain and completing the handover procedure. When the ongoing call is in the circuit switched domain completing the handover procedure results in handing over the ongoing call to the packet switched domain, and when the ongoing call is in the packet switched domain completing the handover procedure results in handing over the ongoing call to the circuit switched domain. For example, the circuit switched domain may be a GERAN network and the packet switched domain may be an E-UTRAN (LTE) network. In the GERAN network the handover procedure may be accomplished at least in part through a Gs interface between a mobile switching center and a serving general packet radio system support node and/or through a Gb interface between a base station system and the serving general packet radio system support node. The handover procedure is accomplished at least in part by signaling conducted over an Sinterface between the serving general packet radio system support node of the GERAN network and the mobility management entity of the E-UTRAN network.

Handover of circuit-switched call to packet-switched call, and vice versa

The problem of synchronization of the handover of the CS and PS resources to the same target cell during DTM handover is solved without affecting the performance of the CS handover. The mechanism of synchronizing the handover of the PS and CS resources is supported by the following functions: (1) resource indications on the CS and PS handover signalling to indicate to target cell network nodes that the CS and PS handover is ongoing at the same time for the same MS; (2) allocated resources indications on the CS and PS handover signalling to indicate to the source cell nodes that there are resources available in the target cell for CS and PS resources; (3) management of the synchronization of the CS and PS handover in the source and target cell.

Combined handover of the circuit-switched (CS) and packet-switched (PS) resources

A method and a device for reallocating transport format combination identifiers (TFCI) of transport format combinations (TFC) forming a transport format combination set (TFCS) in a wireless system utilizing flexible layer one (FLO). Whenever a TFC is removed from the TFCS the corresponding TFCI is left vacant. The vacant TFCI is then assigned to a TFC with a subsequent TFCI. Such TFC with subsequent TFCI may be either the closest one to the vacant TFCI (by its TFCI) or the last one, for example. The size of TFCIs may be reduced if enabled by the assigning phase.

Method and a device for reallocating transport format combination identifiers in a wireless system

In case of both circuit-switched and a packet-switched connection handover from a source () to a target () radio access network or base station subsystem a new target ID indication message () is sent to a core network node () either from a core network element () or from the target radio access network or base station subsystem, depending on whether there is an interface (Gs) between the core network element and the core network node. In one embodiment, in contrast to the prior art, the new target ID indication message is mandated to only identify one target base station or target radio access network.
