A color filter includes a plurality of color pixels, and a first hologram diffracting an incident light beam into a first diffraction-resultant light beam. The color filter also includes a second hologram diffracting the first diffraction-resultant light beam into a second diffraction-resultant light beam having a plurality of light beams with different wavelengths respectively. The second hologram directs the different wavelength light beams toward the color pixels respectively.

An apparatus for recording information carried by an electro-magnetic radiation beam. The apparatus has a recording unit having two electrodes, a photoconductive member and a recording member of liquid crystals capable of holding electric charges, the members being arranged so as to face each other between the electrodes. An electro-magnetic radiation beam carrying information to be recorded is directed to the photoconductive member under presence of a voltage across the electrodes. An electric field corresponding to a conductivity variation of the photoconductive member according to the information is thus applied to the recording member to form a charge latent image corresponding to the information on the recording member. An image formation apparatus using a recording medium including a scattering-mode light-modulation member which takes an opaque state in response to a heat and takes a transparent state in response to an electric field. The apparatus comprises a heater and an electrode device which are disposed in opposed relation to the recording medium. The heater preheats the recording medium in accordance with a control signal from an external device and the electrode device applies an electric field to the recording medium after the heating, thereby completely erasing an image previously recorded in the recording medium. After the erasure, the recording medium is heated by a thermal head in accordance with an information signal from an external device so as to form a new image in the recording medium.

There is provided a photosensitive medium for recording a charge latent image, composed of a photo-conductive layer having an electrode and a protective layer at each surface thereof. There is further provided a charge latent image recording method. A photo-conductive layer and a charge holding layer, each having an electrode at a surface thereof, are arranged to face each other through a gap. A predetermined voltage is applied across the photo-conductive layer and the charge holding layer through the electrodes to cause discharge thereacross. At the time, an electro-magnetic wave corresponding to the charge latent image intended to be recorded is emitted to the photo-conductive layer. The impedance of the photo-conductive layer is thus varied to record the charge latent image on the charge holding layer. In the method, the rise time constant of the voltage applied across the electrodes is adjusted to that of the discharge or more, and the potential of the charge latent image is adjusted to a discharge starting voltage or less.
