Systems and methods for securely transferring medical data for an off-site administered test. A method includes receiving, at a first device, a key associated with a second device from a third device, wherein the second device is a medical device having a unique identifier, wherein the second device includes at least one sensor configured to capture medical data; receiving, at the first device, a request to store the medical data captured by the at least one sensor from the second device; configuring the second device to store the medical data in at least one designated storage location, wherein each designated storage location is accessible to the second device and to the third device; and sending the designated storage location and the unique identifier to the third device.

Sleep apnea test device

A catheter configured for use with a magnetic field-based localization system includes a distributed location sensor that includes a plurality of individual location sensing coils electrically connected in series. The distributed location sensor has an effective magnetic center based on the individual characteristics of each location sensing coil. The effective magnetic center can be located in a space occupied by another structure such as an irrigation fluid delivery tube. The plurality of individual location sensing coils are generally smaller, thereby easing placement, and collectively, when connected in series, output a relatively strong and noise-free signal.

Distributed location sensor

An elongate medical device includes a sensor configured to detect one or more characteristics of an electromagnetic field in which the device is disposed. The sensor includes an electrically-insulative substrate, rectangular in shape, and a patterned, conductive trace disposed on the substrate. The patterned trace includes a plurality of diagonal sections parallel to one another, arranged with a relatively low pitch. The substrate is wrapped into a cylindrical shape thereby forming a three-dimensional spiral capable of functioning as a micro-electromagnetic sensor. A medical positioning system is responsive to the signal from the sensor to determine a position and/or orientation of the sensor.

A method for emulating prerecorded images may comprise acquiring at least one organ timing signal reading representing an activity state of an organ with at least one organ timing signal detector, acquiring a plurality of images with a medical imaging system, associating each of the plurality of images with an organ timing signal reading, removing any of the organ timing signal readings and associated images that are not representative of a normal organ configuration, and outputting a sequence of the representative images for a display.

A method for enhancing a three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of an object comprises obtaining a signal indicative of a static 3D reconstruction of an object disposed in a tracking space, co-registering the 3D reconstruction to the 3D tracking space, collecting enhancement data from a tracked tool disposed in the 3D tracking space, and adding real-time features of the object to the static 3D reconstruction using the enhancement data. A system for enhancing data obtained by a medical system includes an electronic control unit configured to receive a first signal for a static 3D reconstruction of an organ, co-register the static 3D reconstruction to a 3D tracking space for a tracked tool, receive a second signal for enhancement data generated by the tracked tool operating within a region of interest of the organ, and add real-time features of the area of interest to the static 3D reconstruction using the enhancement data.

Methods and systems for producing an electrophysiological map of a heart of a patient are disclosed. An example method may include determining a target location and an orientation of a catheter tip, confirming that the tip is located at the target location, measuring the heart parameter value at each of the target locations, and superimposing a plurality of representations of the heart parameter value. Confirmation that the tip of the catheter is located at a target location can be accomplished by comparing the current location of the tip with the target location, a corresponding heart parameter value being measured at each of the target locations by a heart parameter sensor, and the representations of the heart parameter value being superimposed on an image of the heart at the target location to produce the electrophysiological map.

Method for producing an electrophysiological map of the heart

A tool dislodgement detection apparatus includes an MPS outputting position and orientation (P&O) readings for determining tool motion. A control generates an alarm based on the tool motion and dislodgement criteria. The criteria includes whether the tool motion meets a condition based on the type of medical procedure or tool, the tool parking position, a patient characteristic (e.g., age, weight, gender) or a physician preference. The criteria includes when the correlation between the tool motion and the cardiac, respiration and patient motion changes abruptly. In a prolapse detection apparatus, guidewire tip P&O readings determine a tip motion vector. The control generates an alarm using the motion vector and predetermined criteria. The criteria include a substantial change in the tip orientation not accompanied by a corresponding position change and a change in the motion vector by about 180&#xb0; accompanied by a corresponding position change no greater than a threshold.

The present invention is directed to a system and method for assessing interference to a signal caused by magnetic field. The system includes a magnetic field generator configured to generate a magnetic field. The system further includes a first magnetic field sensor configured to detect a magnetic field and to generate a first signal representative of the magnetic field detected thereby. The system still further includes a second magnetic field sensor. The second magnetic field sensor is configured to detect a magnetic field and to generate a second signal representative of the magnetic field detected by the second magnetic field sensor. The system yet still further includes a processor. The processor is configured to receive and process the second signal to determine whether said magnetic field detected by said second magnetic field sensor may cause distortion to said first signal, as well as the magnitude of such distortion.
