An optical fiber comprises a glass portion comprising a core and a cladding surrounding the core, and, a resin portion comprising a non-removable resin layer tightly covering the glass portion and comprising an ultraviolet curing resin and a buffer layer covering the non-removable resin layer and comprising an ultraviolet curing resin. A diameter of the core falls within a range from 20 &#x3bc;m or larger to 80 &#x3bc;m or smaller, and an outer diameter of the non-removable resin layer falls within a range from 120 &#x3bc;m or larger to 127 &#x3bc;m or smaller. In this optical fiber, when flexural rigidity of the glass portion is EI(g) and flexural rigidity of the resin portion is EI(r), EI(g)&#x2267;EI(r) is satisfied.

Optical fiber cable

The present invention relates to an optical fiber and an optical cable which can be used for a long term even under environments in which an oil content migrates into them, and the optical fiber has a glass fiber extending along a predetermined axis, and a coating. The coating is composed of a plurality of layers each of which is comprised of an ultraviolet curable resin or a thermosetting resin, and swelling rates of the respective coating layers are set so that they increase from an outer peripheral surface of the glass fiber to an outer peripheral surface of the cable jacket.

Connector assembly

An optical cable comprises a coated optical fiber having an optical fiber which includes a core made of glass and a cladding surrounding the core and a jacket made of a thermoplastic resin. The jacket is directly covering the coated optical fiber while in close contact therewith. Optical cable

An optical cable includes an optical fiber ribbon core wire provided with an optical fiber having a core and a cladding that surrounds the core, a sheath that surrounds the optical fiber ribbon core wire, and a braid arranged inside the sheath. The braid is formed to include wires woven with each other. In the optical cable, the wire that forms the braid is pushed into the sheath so that the sheath is integrated with the braid.

An optical cable comprises an optical fiber ribbon, a tension member and a sheath. The optical fiber ribbon is constructed by integrating a plurality of optical fibers arranged in parallel. The sheath is provided so as to surround the optical fiber ribbon. The sheath is used for protecting the optical cable. One optical fiber ribbon is arranged twistably within an inner space surrounded by the sheath.

The present invention relates to a multimode optical fiber provided with a region where a refractive index in a peripheral region of a core has deviation from an ideal shape of an &#x3b1;-power refractive-index profile and where an absolute value of an amount of the deviation is not less than 0.005%, so as to generate radiation modes, and a refractive index of a cladding is higher than that of the deviation region.

Multimode optical fiber including a core and a cladding

The present invention relates to a multimode optical fiber including a glass fiber, and a coating member provided on an outer periphery of the glass fiber. The glass fiber extends along a predetermined central axis, and includes at least a core region having a GI-type refractive index profile. The coating member has a refractive index that is higher than a minimum refractive index of the core region. According to this configuration, leakage of a higher-order mode with a large group delay difference to the coating member side is facilitated.

Multimode optical fiber

A coated plastic cladding optical fiber and an optical fiber cable, in which a transmission loss caused when this coated fiber or this fiber cable is bent in a small radius is small, and which can be used sufficiently as a USB cable or a HDMI cable in a high speed transmission, are provided. The coated plastic cladding optical fiberhas a cladding layerthat is formed on an outer periphery of a core glassmade of a quartz glass and formed of a polymer resin whose refractive index is lower than core glass, and a resin coating layerthat is formed on an outer periphery of the cladding layerand is formed of a thermosetting resin. Then, a diameter of the core glassis set to 50 to 100 &#x3bc;m, and a relative index difference of the core glassto the cladding layeris set to 3.7% or more.

Coated plastic cladding optical fiber and optical fiber cable

A plastic-cladding optical fiber is provided. The plastic-cladding optical fiber is provided includes: a core layer made of quartz glass; and a cladding layer formed by hardening a curable resin composition over a periphery of the core layer. Adhesion between the core layer and the cladding layer ranges 1.5 g/mm to 4.0 g/mm.

Low adhesion plastic-cladding optical fiber

The present invention relates to an optical cable with a structure for improving a durability performance. The optical cable comprises, as a basic structure: a coated optical fiber, and a cable jacket covering an outer periphery of the coated optical fiber. The coated optical fiber is constituted by a glass fiber and a coating layer of an ultraviolet curing resin. To realize excellent impact resistance as durability performance, the coating layer of the coated optical fiber includes a first coating with a Young's modulus of 200 MPa or more. Meanwhile, the cable jacket is comprised of a thermoplastic resin that does not contain any halogens. The cable jacket has a thickness of 0.7 mm or more, a flame retardancy of V2 or more according to UL Standards, and a Young's modulus equal to or greater than that of the first coating.
