Adhesive hot-melt formulations with a main polymeric component, of at least one isotactic metallocene butene-1 polymer composition, that has a low viscosity, and that has a bimodal composition, directly obtained during polymerization, in two consecutive and separate reaction steps. Moreover, said hot-melts include less than 5% by weight of at least one viscosity modifier that is not solid at room temperature. Such unusually low level of said additives, surprisingly allows to attain substantially improved levels both of high adhesiveness and cohesion. The adhesive hot-melt formulations include less than 5% by weight of a polyethylene wax or of a blend of polyethylene waxes, that characterized by a highly linear/non-branched structure and by an exceptionally low Polydispersity Index. The presence of such peculiar polyethylene waxes, that are partially incompatible with the butene-1 polymer composition, allows to use the disclosed hot-melt formulations even in the presence of fibrous or perforated substrates.

Hot-melt adhesives with improved adhesion and cohesion

The present application discloses novel hot-melt adhesive formulations, with excellent processability, even in processes at high line-speed and at a relatively low temperature, the formulations suitable for strongly bonding substrates that have openings, holes, voids or pores, both macroscopic and microscopic ones, like perforated plastic films, both with bidimensional or tridimensional structure; fibrous substrates, both woven and non-woven; porous plastic films, and the like, all mentioned substrates being widely used for the manufacturing of absorbent hygienic articles. The hot-melt formulations include, as their main or even unique constituent, at least one polymer composition formed by two polyolefins, substantially non-stereospecific, as showed by the low value of their crystallization enthalpy at time zero, the polyolefins having average Number Molecular Weights Mn that do not differ for more than about 6,000 g/mole, being the single average Number Molecular Weights of said polyolefins ranging from about 3,000 g/mole and about 30,000 g/mole.

Hot-melt adhesives comprising a bimodal polymer composition formed by polyolefins having low stereospecificity

A new hot-melt adhesive formulations having improved processability and that are easily processable even with processes at high speed and in particular with Spraying or Fiberization processes. Said hot-melt adhesive formulations comprise, as their main polymer component, at least one isotactic metallocene butene-1 polymer composition, that has a low viscosity, and that has a substantially bimodal composition, directly obtained during polymerization, in two consecutive and separate reaction steps, where the first polymer (polymer A) of said compositionally bimodal polymer composition is an isotactic butene-1 homopolymer or an isotactic butene-1 copolymer with another olefin, while the second polymer (polymer B) is an isotactic copolymer of butene-1, with another olefin, with a chemical composition obviously different from A, qualitatively and/or quantitatively; said hot-melts further comprising a viscosity modifier that is not solid at room temperature.

Hot-melt adhesives processable with high speed processes

The present invention relates to wetness indicator compositions that comprise at least one leuco dye and one color developer in a hot-melt adhesive matrix. Upon contact with water or with water-containing fluids, said wetness indicator compositions are apt to change their color from a colorless state to a colorful state or from a first colored state to a second colored state having a color different from the first one; in particular, from a first colorless, white, or translucent state to a second state having a visible color, or vice versa. The disclosed wetness indicator compositions can be used as wetness/fluid indicators in various applications, e.g. in packaging articles and in absorbent articles; in an absorbent mat or sheet or operatory cloth for medical use; in a wound dressing product; in an absorbent mat or sheet for food products.

The present invention relates to liquid impermeable, moisture vapour permeable film or layers comprising thermoplastic hydrophilic polymeric compositions. The thermoplastic compositions comprise selected thermoplastic hydrophilic polymers, selected compatible plasticisers, and selected functionalized copolymers that provide the resulting film or layer with an increased mechanical strength, and better bonding capability to a substrate, without impairing the moisture vapour permeability of said films or layers. The layers and films of the present invention made from the thermoplastic hydrophilic polymeric compositions can find a variety of applications wherein liquid imperviousness and moisture vapour permeability are desirable.
