A method, an apparatus, and a system for sending a control request based on a key value configuration. The method includes generating, by a client controller, a control request, wherein having a plurality of configuration parameters, wherein the plurality of configuration parameters comprise a flexible key value, a control object name, and a universally unique identifier (UUID), where the flexible key value identifies a requested control object, and the flexible key value is determined using at least one of the control object name or the UUID, and sending, by the client controller, the control request to a server controller, where the control request indicates to the server controller to configure the control object.

Method, apparatus, and system for sending control request based on key value configuration

A network node for a Data Communication Network (DCN) and a network device for providing traffic to the DCN are provided. The network node is configured to receive a plurality of packets carrying DCN messages; determine, from the received packets, a first set of packets addressed to other network nodes of the DCN. The network node is then configured to forward the first set of packets over a Time-Division-Multiplexing (TDM) connection, in particular over an Optical Data Unit-k (ODUk) connection, to a determined network node of the DCN. According to the application, a high bandwidth efficiency is maintained, and the number of interfaces to be managed on a controller is reduced.

A network analytics engine predicts impairment of one or more communications links included in a current data path being used to transmit data through a network, and transmits information indicating the predicted impairment to a network controller in a warning message. In response to receiving the warning message, the network controller identifies potential alternative data paths that exclude any communication links predicted to experience an impairment. Before setting up an alternative data path, however, the network controller waits for a fault notification confirming the predicted impairment. If the fault notification is received before expiration of a waiting period, the network controller sets up one of the potential alternative data paths in place of the current data path.

The present disclosure discloses a protection switching method and a node. A computer implemented method of configuring an optical path includes selecting with one or more processors a wavelength for the optical path, generating with one or more processors, a first request for a first type of node in the optical path, generating with one or more processors a second request for a second type of node in the optical path, the second type of node having different data plane capabilities than the first type of node, wherein the first and second requests are generated as a function of a joint configuration model accommodating both types of nodes, and sending the first request from the one or more processors to the first type of node and the second request to the second type of node to configure the optical path.

The disclosure provides an interconnecting node for interconnecting first and second protected domains, the second protected domain comprising a working path and a protection path for linear protection in a network for traffic forwarding between two end-nodes. The interconnecting node comprises at least one interface for receiving first monitoring information from the first protected domain, a monitoring unit for detecting an isolation condition of the interconnecting node within the first protected domain based on the first monitoring information, and generating second monitoring information to be transmitted to the working path so that a failure in the working path is detectable based on the second monitoring information at a far-end node of the working path. If an isolation condition is detected, the monitoring unit starts transmitting alarm indication information to the working path for suppressing at the far-end node an alarm reporting regarding a failure in the working path.

Fault propagation in segmented protection

A method is provided to establish a path in an optical domain to couple first and second IP routing domains for use by a VPN. A network controller (NC) receives an optical path setup command and, in response, determines an optical path ID identifying an optical path. The NC sends a mapping command to a domain controller (DC) associated with the first IP routing domain and receives routing information that includes a VPN label. The NC sends a forwarding command including the routing information to a DC associated with the second IP routing domain, the forwarding command configured to cause a termination point in the second IP routing domain to forward a packet to the optical path when the packet comprises elements of the routing information.

It is disclosed a method of monitoring, a Multi-Protocol Label Switching network, a tandem connection of a Label Switched Path. The tandem connection to be monitored has an input node and an output node. The method comprises the following steps: receiving a first Operation Administration Management packet at the input node; and generating a second OAM packet at the input node. According to the invention, the following steps are further performed: a tandem connection header is inserted into the first OAM packet; both the first OAM packet with the tandem connection header and the second OAM packet are sent towards the output node; and the second OAM packet is identified according to the presence or absence of said tandem connection header.

An exemplary method and apparatus are provided for exchanging information for establishing a path between a first node and a second node of a communication network. The first node and the second node are adapted to send continuity check messages to monitor the established path. The technique includes generating, at the first node and at the second node, at least one link state message according to a routing protocol; inserting continuity check link state information into the at least one link state message; and exchanging between the first node and the second node, the link state messages for computing the path. The continuity check link state information are indicative of at least one rate of transmission of the continuity check messages supported by the first node and the second node.

Method of monitoring a tandem connection in a multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) telecommunication network

In order to provide a redundancy mechanism in a packet switched provider network, which allows faster recovery from a failure, it is proposed that in case of a failure, a redundancy mechanism is initiated to reroute packet transmission through the provider network via an alternate path and an address withdrawal message is sent to network nodes along the failed path using data plane protocol. A network node receiving the address withdrawal message will flush MAC addresses it had learned before.
