The present invention intends to enable light path length to be kept the same between sample measurement and reference measurement and thereby improve measurement accuracy, and is an optical analyzer that analyzes a sample flowing through a pipe having translucency. In addition, the optical analyzer includes: a light source unit that has a light source and a condenser lens; a light detection unit that detects light of the light source unit; and a support mechanism that movably supports the light source unit and the light detection unit. Further, the support mechanism moves the light source unit and the light detection unit between a sample measurement position and a reference measurement position.

The present invention improves an S/N ratio and light intensity resolution provided by an A/D converter, and an analyzer includes: a measurement cell irradiated with light during sample measurement; a dimming element irradiated with the light during reference measurement; an amplifier configured to amplify an analog light intensity signal outputted from a light detector; an A/D converter configured to convert the analog light intensity signal into a digital light intensity signal; and an arithmetic device configured to calculate absorbance using a digital sample light intensity signal outputted from the A/D converter during the sample measurement and a digital reference light intensity signal outputted from the A/D converter during the reference measurement, wherein an amplification factor of the amplifier is set such that the analog reference light intensity signal and the analog sample light intensity signal become less than or equal to a full scale of the A/D converter.

Spectroscopic analysis method and spectroscopic analyzer

To make it possible to alter a cell length with reduction of a manufacturing cost so that a spacer can be securely positioned at a desired position, a cell includes: a pair of optical windows sandwiching a flow channel; a cell body provided with an accommodating recess and a solution introduction part and a solution deriving part; a pair of light transmitting members in the accommodating recess and forming the pair of optical windows; a spacer defining a distance between the opposing surfaces of the pair of light transmitting members; and a pressing mechanism for pressing the light transmitting members and the spacer toward the bottom surface of the accommodating recess so as to form the flow channel, wherein a positioning recess having a shape corresponding to the spacer is provided on at least one of the opposing surfaces and the spacer is fitted therein.

Optical measurement cell

A measuring method of determining component concentration in a solution by calculating component concentrations in the solution at various temperatures in a small number of steps. The component concentration is measured at an arbitrary temperature T by using a solution absorbance spectrum and solvent absorbance spectrum at a plurality of wavelength(s)r, and preliminarily determining a calibration coefficient M(T). Concentration of Cof component i in solution at reference temperature T, is obtained at differential spectrum of solution spectrum S (&#x3bb;, T) at temperature T in j-th wavelength &#x3bb;and solvent spectrum B (&#x3bb;, T) at temperature T in j-th wavelength &#x3bb;, calculating calibration coefficient M(T) the specific component concentrations.

Measuring method of component concentration in solution

An analytical method capable of easily, rapidly, and accurately determining concentrations of a multi-component aqueous solution. Near-infrared spectra of a standard solution containing k components of known concentrations are measured n times within a range of 1,500 to 1,850 nm. A loading matrix of p columns by m rows and an intermediate matrix of k columns by m rows for an appointed factor number m are obtained from a response matrix of p columns by n rows consisting of p absorbance values of the respective spectra in a calibration stage and p absorbance values of a near-infrared spectrum within a wavelength range of 1,500 to 1,850 nm of a test liquid. The test liquid contains k components including pure water of unknown concentrations. The concentrations of the k components are determined from a group of absorbance values and the loading and intermediate matrices obtained in the calibration stage by a matrix operation in an prediction stage. In the calibration stage, k+1 characteristic contents can be obtained by adding a solution temperature as one of characteristic items, and k concentration values and one temperature value can be obtained in the prediction stage.

Analytical method for multi-component aqueous solutions and apparatus

A method of analyzing the concentration of components in a fluid solution that can be contaminated with gas bubbles includes applying a spectrum of light to a test cell holding a sample fluid solution and detecting the measurement of the intensity of light passing through the test cell. A gas of the type that would be found in the sample fluid solution can be initially inserted into the test cell with light of a predetermined range of wavelengths scanning the test cell to obtain a reference spectrum. The test cell is then filled with the sample fluid solution and the light measurement is again conducted to obtain a sample spectrum. Data processing can occur to derive a light absorbance spectrum from the reference spectrum and sample spectrum to enable a determination of the percentage of concentrations of each component from the light absorbance spectrum, including the percentage of gas. Adding the determined percentages of concentration will provide a total amount, and comparing this total amount with a predetermined value can verify the accuracy of the concentration of components. If the data is contaminated as a result of an excess presence of gas bubbles, this data can be discarded to insure that the proper amount of concentrations is determined.

Method of analyzing the concentration of components in a solution

A method and apparatus of determining the amount of impurities in an object with isothermal capacitance transient spectroscopy (ICTS) includes maintaining the object at a constant temperature while applying a predetermined voltage pulse to the object at predetermined test locations. The capacitance is measured over a predetermined time period, and the measured capacitance is processed to determine the amount of impurities in accordance with a differential coefficient obtained by differentiating the following equation used as the ICTS spectrum: ##EQU1## wherein C is the capacitance and t is the time period.

Isothermal capacitance transient spectroscopy method and apparatus

Two sets of TACs are simultaneously operated by a start pulse, one set of TACs using a photoelectron pulse due to an excited light from a sample as a stop pulse, and the other set of TACs using a photoelectron pulse due to a fluorescence from the sample as a stop pulse. Each TAC outputs a voltage proportional to the time from the start of action to the receiving of the stop pulse and an excitation light shape and a luminescence transient shape are simultaneously measured on the basis of output voltages from the TACs. A variable offset voltage is added to an output of at least one of the two sets of TACs and the excitation light shape and the luminescence transient shape are displayed on a two-picture synthetic display.

Apparatus for measuring luminescence lifetime

A measuring method for a time resolved emission spectrum or a time resolved excitation spectrum, wherein when emission transient waveforms from a pulse-excited sample are measured by the time correlation photon counting method; the emission transient waveforms are measured at every optimum wavelength in a problematical emission spectrum region; the measured emission transient waveforms are stored in a memory in order and at every wavelength; all the transient waveforms in each wavelength are measured; thereafter, the time resolved emission spectrum or the time resolved excitation spectrum is produced on the basis of all the above-mentioned stored emission transient waveform data, thereby enabling the proper spectrum to be produced efficiently.

Measuring method for a time resolved emission spectrum or a time

A pair of time to voltage converters consisting of a converter for measuring the pulse shape of an exciting light and a converter for measuring the luminous shape are simultaneously activated by a start pulse so that the measurement of the pulse shape of the exciting light and the measurement of the luminous shape can be carried out in parallel in order to reduce the measurement time and to measure the luminous lifetime of the sample with a high accuracy.

Apparatus for measuring the luminous lifetime of a sample

An apparatus for measuring anisotropy of light emitted from the sample, in which photodetectors are each disposed by either side of the sample and TACs are connected to the abovesaid apparatus each correspondingly to one photodetector so that a vertical polarized component and a horizontal one of light emitted from the sample can be measured at the same time for enabling analysis operation in a short period of time and measurement in high precision.
