An electric motor vehicle having a drive system comprises a controller including an inverter device. The inverter comprises first and second series of semiconductor switches which is arranged in parallel with a power source. When a key switch provided between the power source and the first series of the semiconductor switches is open in a stop mode of the vehicle, a signal is given to a control terminal of only the second series of the semiconductor switches to prevent a short circuit of a main battery.

An electric motor vehicle comprises as a drive system a battery, a motor, and a controller for controlling the rotation of the motor. The electric motor vehicle disposes an accelerator for controlling speed of the motor, a key switch for turning on or off the motor and the controller, a circuit for judging an opening/closing state of the accelerator when the key switch is turned on, and a circuit for preventing the rotation of the motor when the key switch is turned on with the accelerator open.

A method for producing a motor casing having a first casing member and a second casing member which are separated in a direction of a rotation shaft of a motor is disclosed. The first and second casing members are coupled by coupling members, and a stator of the motor is held by the first casing members and the second casing member to be fixed within the casing. The method is characterized in that when it is assumed that a length of the stator held is L1, and a length from an engaging portion of the coupling member with the first casing member to an engaging portion of the coupling member with the second casing member is L2, a strength classification of the required coupling member is determined in advance by converting it into a ratio of L1 and L2.

An efficient permanent magnet rotor for a brushless motor has a yoke (2) formed by laminating many steel sheets (4) so as to provide an even number of magnetic poles projected externally, filed permanent magnets (3) inserted in the magnetic poles, bridges (10) provided at either end of the permanent magnets and having a width, among a first minimum width below which said bridges cannot be punched out without breaking, a maximum width at which an allowable maximum number of magnetic fluxes passes through said bridges, and a second minimum width below which said bridges cannot withstand a centrifugal force caused by rotation of said permanent magnet rotor, (1) equal to or larger than the greater one of the first and second minimum widths and smaller than the maximum width when the first and second minimum widths are equal to or smaller than the maximum width, or (2) equal to or larger than the greater one of the first and second minimum widths when said greater one of the first and second minimum widths is equal to or larger than the maximum width, and (3) equal to or larger than the thickness of each of said steel sheets.

An electric automobile comprises a wheel driving motor (8, 10, 15, 21, 50, 80) and a refrigerating system for air-conditioning the interior of an electric automobile. The refrigerating system has a compressor (7, 22, 57), an outdoor heat exchanger (6, 25, 53), an expansion valve (3a, 3b, 13, 27, 28, 55, 58), and an indoor heat exchanger (4, 29, 54) connected in series by a refrigerant pipe. The wheel driving motor (8, 10, 15, 21, 50, 80) is provided within the refrigerating system, and the wheel driving motor is cooled directly by the refrigerating system.
