A container for storing a supply of toner particles therein is used in a developer unit of an electrophotographic printing machine. The container has a discharge port connected to a chamber storing the supply of toner therein. A movable member is positioned in the chamber of the container. The movable member includes a planar surface. When the planar surface is positioned remote from the discharge port, the planar surface receives toner particles. When the planar surface is positioned in engagement with the discharge port, toner particles are discharged from the planar surface through the discharge port. In this way, the member functions to seal the toner container when the toner container is in an non-operative position remote from the developer unit, and to meter precise quantities of toner particles to the developer roller of the developer unit when the toner container is in the developer unit in the operating mode thereof.

A hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member supporting end flange including a disk shaped member, a supporting hub extending axially from the disk shaped member and a metal disk coaxially secured to the hub, the disk comprising a plurality of rectangular tabs extending radially from the disk in a direction away from an imaginary axis of the hub for engagement with the hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member upon insertion of the hub and disk shaped member into one end of the hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member. When this end flange is inserted into one end of the hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member, the plurality of rectangular tabs extending radially from the disk engage the inner surface of the hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member.

A reusable photoreceptor assembly has a gear assembly removable from a photoreceptor. A square leaf spring or ring is used to secure and remove the gear assembly to and from the photoreceptor, thereby avoiding damage to both the gear assembly and photoreceptor during the removal of the gear assembly. The undamaged gear assembly and photoreceptor may then be reused.

Method and apparatus for reusing a photoreceptor and gear assembly

An ink filling apparatus for filling ink cartridges with a quantity of ink. The ink filling apparatus includes ink injecting members or needles to inject ink into an ink saturating material or wicking medium contained in the ink cartridges. A compression member compresses the ink saturating medium while ink is injected into the saturating medium. A vent cover covers a vent tube in the ink cartridge and directs the flow of pressurized air or gas through the vent tube to prevent ink from entering the vent tube during the ink filling operation. A piston pump delivers a specific quantity of ink to the ink filling apparatus to accurately fill each ink cartridge.
