A method including receiving, by a user device from a network node, a configuration including at least an indication to perform spectrum extension; determining a target extension factor for excess band frequency resources for a target spectrum extension; receiving information indicating a set of inband frequency resources allocated to the user device for uplink transmission; determining, by the user device based on the set of inband frequency resources and the target extension factor, the excess band frequency resources for the spectrum extension and/or a total allocation of frequency resources for uplink transmission, wherein the total allocation of frequency resources includes the inband frequency resources and the excess band frequency resources; performing, by the user device, a spectrum extension based on the excess band frequency resources for a set of frequency domain values, to obtain a spectrum extended signal; and transmitting the spectrum extended signal.

Frequency domain resource allocation in wireless networks

To enable spectrum shaping also when excess band is used, at least one set of spectral flatness requirements amongst two or more sets comprises at least at least a first parameter value for a first in-band range, at least a second parameter value for a second in-band range and at least a third parameter value for the excess band range, and a set to be used is selected at least based on information on the use of the excess band.

This document discloses a solution for modulating and demodulating signals transferred over a communication channel. According to an aspect, a method comprises: storing a database for mapping rules for mapping a block of N bits into M modulation symbol phase transitions, wherein a phase transition between consecutive modulation symbols is limited to less than or equal to ∓π/2, wherein M is smaller than N, and wherein M is the smallest number required for realizing 2N different phase-transition combinations; determining an initial phase; acquiring a block of N bits and modulating the block of N bits into M phase symbol transitions from the initial phase by using bit values of the block of N bits and the mapping rules, thus acquiring M modulation symbols; performing said determining, acquiring, and modulating for further blocks of N bits, thus acquiring a sequence of K modulation symbols; allocating the sequence of K modulation symbols to sub-carriers of a multi-carrier symbol and causing transmission of the multi-carrier symbol over a radio interface.

Modulation method for power-efficient transmissions

There is provided an apparatus comprising means for: receiving, from a network node, a configuration message for frequency domain spectral shaping, wherein the configuration message is indicative of at least one or more filter parameters; determining a frequency domain window function according to the one or more filter parameters; and transmitting an uplink transmission applying the determined frequency domain window function.
