A method for locating of a wireless device, performed by a third party, comprising: communicating with the wireless device in a silent call, to compel the wireless device to continuously emit signals; activating a monitoring apparatus to monitor the signals emitted from the wireless device; resetting an idling timer means of the wireless device, such that the silent call is not ended by the wireless device; identifying a relative location from which the signals become stronger and locating the wireless device; and terminating the silent call.

Stand alone solution for location of a cellular phone

A location-tracking system that includes multiple detector units that are deployed in a region of interest. The detector units receive uplink signals from wireless terminals that are active in the region, and measure the strengths of the received uplink signals. The system computes the locations of the terminals based on the measured signal strengths and the known locations of the detector units. The location-tracking system receives and analyzes downlink signals from one or more of the base stations of the wireless network. The detector unit uses the downlink signal to recover and synchronize to the timing of the wireless network's air-interface. Based on the extracted uplink allocations, and having synchronized with the air-interface, the system is able to distinguish between the uplink signal components originating from each terminal, and thus compute the location of each terminal.

System and method for simultaneous location tracking of multiple wireless terminals

Systems and methods to instruct a mobile device to switch from a first protocol to a second protocol after registering the device on a network associated with the first protocol. This may be done to obtain a cryptographic key used by the device. For example, for some communication protocols, such as 3G and 4G communication protocols, obtaining the cryptographic key is difficult. However, the 2G communication protocol uses a cryptographic key that is easier to obtain. Only after obtaining the key, the phone instructed to again switch to the first communication protocol. During the exchange of communication, the user is likely to be holding the phone at his ear, such that he is unlikely to notice that the phone is using the first communication protocol. Hence, the exchange of communication may be decrypted and monitored, without the user noticing anything amiss.
