A recording apparatus, which records on a recording medium by using a plurality of recording heads, includes: a carriage for moving the plurality of recording heads in a direction crossing the direction in which the recording medium is fed; and a control section which, when at least two of the plurality of recording heads are of the same recording color, performs recording by alternately using such recording heads for a predetermined number of lines, whereby the amounts of ink consumed by the plurality of recording heads are equalized to make the ink service lives of the recording heads substantially the same.

According to the present invention, a feeding mechanism comprises feeding members to contact with a recording medium and exert a feeding force to the recording medium, holding portions for holding the feeding members in predetermined positions, and a shaft rotatively supported axially at both ends thereof. At least one portion of the shaft is in a tapering configuration to make its end side portion thinner, hence facilitating the mounting of the feeding member while maintaining the strength of the shaft member. The present invention is also directed to a recording apparatus including such a feeding mechanism.

Ink jet recording system

A recording apparatus for performing recording on a recording medium includes a feed roller for feeding a recording medium, a recording head reciprocally movable along a feed path of the recording medium conveyed by the feed roller, the recording head being arranged to perform recording on the recording medium, a motor rotatable in a forward and a reverse direction, a first driving force transmitting unit for driving the feed roller upon rotation of the motor, and a second driving force transmitting unit capable of not receiving the driving force when the driving force is transmitted from the motor to the first driving force transmitting unit. The second driving force transmitting unit is arranged to reciprocate the recording head upon reversible rotation of the motor. A particularly configured drive belt with toothed and non-toothed portions accomplishes this operation.

Recording apparatus

Disclosed is a recording apparatus for recording information signals on a recording sheet. The apparatus includes a conveyance mechanism for conveying the sheet, a recording head reciprocating along the sheet for performing recording thereon, a driving power source for generating a driving force rotating in one direction which is used for reciprocating the recording head and for conveying the sheet by the conveyance mechanism, and a mechanism for inhibiting the conveyance of the sheet while the recording head is moving along the recording region of the sheet. The reciprocating operation of the recording head and the conveyance operation of the sheet are effected by a single motor.

A recording apparatus for effecting recording on a recording medium includes a recording head, a reversible motor, a force transmitting pulley for transmitting the drive force of the motor, a timing belt having a toothed portion engageable with teeth of the force transmitting pulley to receive the transmission of the force in order to move the recording head and an untoothed portion for idly rotating the pulley, and a controller for controlling the motor. The toothed portion of the belt includes two teeth at opposite ends of the untoothed portion, one of which is formed into such a shape that it is difficult for a tooth of the pulley to run thereon.

A recording apparatus for effecting recording on a recording medium has a recording head for effecting recording on the recording medium, a reversible motor, a force transmitting device for transmitting the drive force of the motor, a belt having both an engagement portion engageable with the force transmitting device to receive the transmission of the force in order to move the recording head, and an area in which the engagement portion is not provided, and a control unit for controlling the motor so that the motor is rotated in a reverse direction and thereafter rotated in a forward direction when the engagement portion of the belt is brought into engagement with the force transmitting device.

A driving method for an ink jet recording head, causes liquid emission not intended for recording by energizing driving elements provided respectively corresponding to plural nozzles and provided for generating energy for liquid emission. The driving elements are energized in succession starting from the driving element corresponding to the upper-most nozzle toward the one corresponding to the lower-most nozzle.

Driving method for ink jet head

A recording apparatus preferably usable for desk-set type electronic calculator, computer, word processor, electronic typewriter or the like of the type having a platen detachably incorporated therein. The platen is operatively connected to an upper case. When it is to be removed from the apparatus, the case is first removed and the platen is then displaced away from the operative position by a turning movement in accordance with a removing movement of the case. Recording paper can be placed on the lower guide surface which is exposed to the outside. On completion of placing of the recording paper the case is closed together with the platen by way of the reverse steps until the platen assumes the operative position. To assure that the recording paper is stably held on the lower guide surface even after the platen is displaced away from the operative position, the base board is formed with an opposing pair of semispherical projections on the inner side walls. The platen may be raised up away from the operative position in the vertical direction instead of a turning movement. To inhibit the recording paper from becoming contaminated with ink, a contamination inhibitive plate is interposed between the platen and the printing belt or ring. It is preferable that the contamination inhibitive plate is raised up under the effect of resilient of coil springs at the same time when the platen is displaced away from the operative position.
