A device for cell culture capable of automatically performing operations for cell culture over several days to several months while minimizing the risk of contamination. A new medicine can be supplied to an incubator means by using a medicine supply means or unnecessary wastewater can be discharged from the incubator means by using a wastewater discharge means without taking out the incubator means disposed in heat insulation box means from a heat insulation box, and the state of the cell culture can be observed with the incubator means formed in the heat insulation box means. Accordingly, the outside air does not enter directly into the incubator means during culturing, and the risk of contamination is completely eliminated. As a result, the culturing operations can be automatically performed over a long period.

In an automatic analyzing apparatus for analyzing multi-analysis items in regard to biological samples, a reaction disk, on which a lot of reaction containers are arranged, is repeatedly rotated by one rotation plus one pitch and stopped for receiving a reagent, and intermediately pauses twice between the stops without delivering reagents. The apparatus is so set that a third reagent for the latest delivery timing is delivered during a stop for receiving a sample at a single reagent delivering position E, and a first and a second reagent are delivered during the intermediate pauses at the single reagent delivering position E. After delivering a sample to a specified reaction container, the reaction container is delivered with the first reagent during an intermediate pause in a first cycle and the second reagent during an intermediate pause in a cycle after the delivery of the first reagent, and then the third reagent during a stop for receiving a sample in a cycle after the delivery of the second reagent.

Automatic analyzing method using a plurality of reagents and apparatus

Before analysis, the correspondence between the vessel positions and the reaction vessels held in the vessel positions respectively at the time of completion of all the operations of a turntable upon completion of the last analysis are stored in a computer in advance. When a start switch is turned on, a judgment is made as to whether the correspondences between the vessel positions and the reaction vessels coincide with those stored in the computer or not. In the case of coincidence, reaction vessels in vessel positions are regarded as having been already cleaned, so that these reaction vessels are subjected to blank measurement and sample addition in the case of optical measurement, whereas these reaction vessels are directly subjected to sample addition in the case of ISE measurement.

An analytic test sheet feeder comprises a cylindrical container 11 having an elongated through hole 15 formed in a side wall thereof for receiving a test sheet, a container support 18 which comprises an upper portion having a semi-cylindrical concave surface and a hole 20 formed in a central portion of the concave surface to permit a test sheet descending from the through hole of the container 11 to be taken out therethrough 20, and a test sheet delivering stage 31 which receives and delivers the test sheet descending from the through hole 15.

Test strip supply apparatus includes a rotatable container which has guide part materials for holding a through groove and a weight. Under a supporting table having a take-out hole for the test strip dropped from the through groove of the container, a conveyance stage is provided for receiving the test strip dropped from the through groove and transferring it. The weight facing near both ends of the through groove lets the test strip descend and prevents a surplus number of the test strips from entering the through groove.

A sample container containing a urine sample is transferred by a sample positioning device to a liquid level sensing position. At this sensing position, the liquid level in the sample container is detected by a level sensor, followed by transfer of the sample container to a dipping position. A liquid level rising member is then inserted into the sample container. While being held by a handling device, a test strip is dipped into the sample in the sample container with the liquid level raised. Thereafter, the test strip is lifted out of the sample container and transferred to a measuring device. Color development in reagent sections on the test strip is measured by a photometer in terms of the reflected light strength. With the present invention, analysis using test strips can be implemented even when the sample volume into the sample container is small.

A test strip automatic supply device has: a cylindrical container 11 provided with a slit 15 which is formed in a side wall thereof so as to contain an elongate test strip; a container-supporting table having, in an upper portion thereof, a semi-cylindrical concave surface provided with an opening 20 which is formed in a middle portion of the concave surface so as to allow a test strip fitted in the slit of the container 11 to fall through and be taken out; and a carrying stage 31 which receives and transports a test strip falling from the slit 15. While the transporting stage 31 is transporting a test strip, an optical detector finds whether the test strip is faced up or down. The device has such a function that a side-reversing mechanism flips it over during transportation if it is face down. An operator only has to put test strips in the container. The tests strips are automatically let out of the container one at a time.

A gas mixing device of a blood gas analyzer has a substrate made of a material such as silicon and a plate having a flat smooth surface, made of a material such as glass. The plate is bonded to the substrate. The substrate has a plurality of fine elongated grooves extending between inlet and outlet ports formed in the plate. Different gases are introduced through the respective inlet ports, and combined with each other in the gas mixing device. The levels of flow resistance in branch grooves are so determined that the different gases are mixed at predetermined mixing ratios for delivery to the outlet ports. Further, the analyzer includes the gas mixing device and a measuring unit equipped with a plurality of gas measuring electrodes. The mixture gas from the gas mixing device is made to bubble through a buffer solution in a reservoir for producing a standard liquid measuring unit that is delivered at predetermined time intervals to the analyzer for calibration.

A slide specimen extracted from a cassette at a receiving position is carried to a holding position for waiting by a carrier along a carrying pass. While at the holding position, a previously inspected specimen that has been observed through a microscope is placed on the carrying pass at a specimen replacing position. Thereafter the specimen that has been held at the holding position is carried to the replacing position by the carrier, while at the same time the specimen that has just been placed at the replacing position is moved along the carrying pass by the carrier. The specimen then placed in the replacing position is picked up by a pair of holding arms and carried to an observing position of the microscope. The specimen is retained by vacuum adsorption and by specimen retainers which resiliently hold it by means of springs in contact with the vacuum adsorption surface. In the meantime, the specimen that has already been observed and shifted toward the specimen feeder is moved the rest of the way to the specimen feeder and replaced into the original cassette from which it was extracted. After replacing the specimen, a new specimen is extracted and carried to the holding position as the process is repeated until all of the slide specimens have been observed.

Apparatus and method for specimen inspection

A flow path in a flow analyzing apparatus is branched into two or more branch flow paths. In one of the branch flow paths, a flow path blockage detector and an electrolyte measuring electrode are disposed, and in the other branch flow path, a gas measuring electrode is disposed. When a liquid sample is introduced into the flow paths from a sampling nozzle of the common flow path, the blockage detector detects whether a blockage is occuring. If the blockage is detected, the blockage is removed by feeding a cleaning fluid into the common flow path in a direction opposite to the flow of the sample. Following this, the sample is introduced into the other branch flow path. By this operation, the pressure in the other branch flow path is not reduced abnormally, and thus normal operation of the gas measuring electrode can be maintained.

Method and apparatus of flow analysis

Method for optically analyzing a specimen by using two light beams comprises steps of initiating automatically wavelength scanning operation when a predetermined time has elapsed after the switching-on of a power source, sampling a ratio between a reference light intensity and a specimen light intensity during the wavelength scanning operation when no specimen to be measured is placed in the sample cell, and storing signals derived from the sampling operation in a volatile memory. When the specimen is to be measured or analyzed, the measure signal representative of ratio between the reference light intensity and the specimen transmitting light intensity which are produced or the wavelength scanning operation proceeds is corrected by the corresponding signal read out from the volatile memory in accordance with the wavelength of the measure signal, and the corrected signals are processed as the error-free measure signal.
