A water-soluble pressure-sensitive adhesive composition is described containing a polymerization product obtained by the solution polymerization of a water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of an alcoholic plasticizer having a molecular weight of less than about 3,000 and which is a liquid at room temperature, selected from the group consisting of polyether polyols and polyhydric alcohols, wherein the polymerization product contains as a polymer component at least an addition copolymer of the water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer and the alcoholic plasticizer.

Water-soluble pressure-sensitive adhesive composition

An aqueous composition for forming a release coating layer on a substrate, comprising 100 parts by weight (solids basis) of a mixture of aqueous components of polysiloxanes and from about 20 to 100 parts by weight (solids basis) of an aqueous resin having film-forming ability, wherein the non-volatile content is from about 1 to 60% by weight. The aqueous composition is applied onto a non-permeable substrate to provide a substrate having thereon a release coating layer, which is suitable for use in the production, for example, of a surface protective sheet or tape, and a pressure-sensitive sheet or tape.

Composition for forming a release coating layer

A non-aqueous composite gel and a process for the production thereof are described, said gel containing emulsified high boiling point hydrophilic liquid particles, said non-aqueous composite gel consisting of an O/O emulsion comprising from 15 to 99% by weight of a continuous phase composed of a rubber component and an oil component, and from 85 to 1% by weight of a dispersed phase composed of a high boiling point hydrophilic liquid wherein the rubber component is cross-linked. This non-aqueous composite gel can be used, for example, as a heat insulating material, especially to maintain low or high temperature environments, as a heat retaining material and as a hospital mat.

Non-aqueous composite gel and process for production thereof

An antibacterial and antifungal material comprising a polymer containing carboxyl groups in an amount of at least about 0.008 milliequivalent per gram of the polymer and antibacterial and antifungal metallic ions ionically bonded to the carboxyl groups in an amount of at least about 0.0009 millimole per gram of the polymer.

A hydrous gel consisting essentially of a heat-moldable w/o emulsion comprising about 15 to about 95% by weight of a continuous phase of an A-B-A type teleblock copolymeric elastomer and an oil component and about 85 to about 5% by weight of an emulsified dispersed water phase. The hydrous gel is prepared by dissolving the teleblock copolymeric elastomer in an excess of the oil component by heating, adding an emulsifier and water to the solution to disperse the water therein and to form the w/o emulsion, and then cooling the resulting emulsion to room temperature. The hydrous gel finds a wide range of utility, for example, as an insulator, especially to maintain low or high temperature environments, as a fireproofing material, as a heat absorbant, and as a hospital mat.
