A base material is subjected to a low-temperature tempering treatment at a temperature equal to or less than 300° C. After the tempering treatment, a coating is applied to the base material by a sputtering method.

Driving tool

A driving tool with a mechanical spring uses urging force from a striking spring as driving force and switches its operation mode. The tool includes a striking driver to strike a fastener, a striking spring urging the driver in a driving direction, a contact arm movable to a retracted position in a counter-driving direction in response to pressing against a workpiece, a trigger movable to an on-position in response to user operation, and a mode selector switch to switch the operation mode between continuous drive mode and single drive mode. A driving operation is performed in the continuous drive mode in response to the contact arm moving to the retracted position and the trigger moving to the on-position in any order, and in the single drive mode in response to the contact arm moving to the retracted position and the trigger moving to the on-position in the stated order.

A driving tool including a first mode wherein a mechanical starting control is performed, and a second mode wherein an electrical starting control is performed, where these modes are configured to be switchable. Only in the second mode, if the elapsed time between the on-operation of a trigger and an on-operation of a contact arm does not exceed a reference time T, then a second actuation portion can be turned to an on-position to perform a driving operation. In the first mode, in contrast to the electric control, without consuming battery power, the driving operation can be performed by the mechanical control that is made by an operational order of the trigger and subsequently the contact arm. Because of this configuration, even if power supply is shut off, the driving operation by the first mode can be continued.

In a rack and pinion mechanism, a driving-side pinion gearand a driven-side pinion gearare provided to be coaxially rotatable relative to each other within a predetermined angle range. Because of this construction, in a case where a time when a driverreaches an advancing end position and contacts an advancing end damperdeviates from a time when a weight devicereaches a retracting end position and contacts a moving end damper, an excessive external force is not applied to engaging teethandby relative rotation of the pinion gearsand. Thus, due to this construction, durability of the rack and pinion mechanism, where end impacts are absorbed through elastic deformation, is improved.

An improved driving tool is provided which can prevent malfunction in detection of the number of fasteners remaining in a magazine. A representative driving tool includes a driving member for driving fasteners and a magazine for storing the fasteners. The driving tool further includes a driving tool actuation control member that can be switched between an actuating position and a deactuating position, and a retaining member that can be switched between a retaining position and a releasing position. The retaining member is switched from the retaining position to the releasing position according to the number of remaining fasteners in the magazine and the driving tool actuation control member is switched from the actuating position to the deactuating position when the retaining member is switched to the releasing position.

It is an object of the invention to provide an improvement of the operability in a driving operation using a power tool. A representative power tool may comprise a driving material driven into a workpiece, a driving mechanism to drive the driving material into the workpiece, a motor, an operating device that controls energization and de-energization of the motor including a trigger switch and an internal switch, wherein the operating device further comprising a first mode in which, when the trigger switch is depressed, the internal switch is interlocked with the depressing operation of the trigger switch to be turned to the on-position and held in the on-position, while the trigger switch is returned to the off-position when the trigger switch is released and a second mode in which, when the depressing operation of the trigger switch is continued, the trigger switch is held in the on-position, and the internal switch is released from interlock with the trigger switch and is held in the on-position for a predetermined period of time in the working stroke and then returned to the off-position, while the trigger switch is returned to the off-position when the trigger switch is released.
