A conductive paste is loaded in circular holes made in a reinforcing film of a carrier tape which includes a film substrate and the reinforcing film, followed by applying a heat treatment to the conductive paste to form projecting electrodes consisting of solder. Then, the reinforcing film is peeled off to permit the projecting electrode to project from the film substrate.

A liquid crystal display panel has a contact terminal arrangement region in a central portion of a projected portion of a segment substrate. Segment terminals are arranged in an upper central portion of the contact terminal arrangement region. Common terminals are arranged on the left and right sides of the upper central portion so as to cross the segment terminals. A film wiring board has contact terminal portions respectively connected to the terminals in the contact terminal arrangement region. Therefore, the width of the film wiring board along its entire length can be smaller than that of the display region. Consequently, the cost is reduced and the reliability of interconnection can be considerably improved.

Liquid crystal display device having an IC chip mounted on a narrow film wiring board

Disclosed is a miniature electronic apparatus, in which input information and a result of calculation of input information performed by an integrated circuit in accordance with key-input signals, is indicated on a display panel. In this apparatus, an IC chip and the display panel are contained in an apparatus cover member, of which lower and upper parts are formed integrally by injection molding. The upper part has a number of key-operation portions, and serves also as an upper cover. The upper part is formed of a main body of soft, transparent thermoplastic elastomer resin, an ornament layer on the body, and a soft, transparent resin coating layer, covering the ornament layer. Thus, according to this electronic apparatus, the components used can be reduced in number, and assembled efficiently. Also, the apparatus can have a specially attractive and gorgeous appearance, different from those of conventional miniature electronic apparatuses.

In a keyswitch structure, a number of recesses are formed in a lower case, and a projection with a flat top surface is formed inside each of the recesses. The recesses communicate with each other by means of grooves formed on the lower case, and fixed contacts are provided on the projections. A pattern is formed on the under surface of a flexible substrate put on the lower case so that movable contacts, included in the pattern, face the fixed contacts. An elastic sheet with a number of buttons is put on the flexible substrate, and the flexible substrate and the elastic sheet are fixedly held between an upper case and the lower case. When any of the buttons of the elastic sheet is pushed, the elastic sheet and the flexible substrate are elastically deformed to bring the movable contacts into contact with the fixed contacts.
