A connector assembly comprises a first connector and a second connector. The first connector comprises a first inner structure and a first housing. The first inner structure comprises a first connector main body. The second connector comprises a second inner structure and a second housing. The second inner structure comprises a second connector main body. The second connector main body comprises a plurality of second terminals, a second holding member and a second shell. The second connector main body is mated with the first connector main body under a mated state where the first connector and the second connector are mated with each other. A distance from a front end of the first housing to a rear end of the second shell is shorter than a distance from a rear end of the second housing to the rear end of the second shell in a front-rear direction under the mated state.

An electrical connector is provided with a first ground contact and a second ground contact. The first ground contact includes a first ground coupling portion and a pair of first ground contact portions extending substantially orthogonal from the first ground coupling portion. The pair of first ground contact portions includes a first upper ground contact portion stepped from a first lower ground contact portion. The second ground contact includes a second ground coupling portion and a pair of second ground contact portions extending substantially orthogonal from the second ground coupling portion. The pair of second ground contact portions includes a second upper ground contact portion stepped from a second lower ground contact portion. The second ground contact is positioned with the first ground contact such that their respective upper or lower ground contact portions are adjacent to each other.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector including a housing having a mating connector receiving passageway. A pair of first differential signal contacts have solder portions and first contact portions positioned in the mating connector receiving passageway. A first ground contact faces the pair of first differential signal contacts. The first ground contact has a solder portion and a pair of first grounding contact portions spaced apart from each other by a gap and positioned in the mating connector receiving passageway. The pair of first grounding contact portions face the first contact portions of the pair of first differential signal contacts.

An electric flat cable wire connection structure for connecting to a mating connector has a plurality of individual electric wires, a plate-shaped intermediate member, a contact part, and a coupler. The plurality of individual electric wires are arranged in a row. The plate-shaped intermediate member has an electric wire connecting part to which the respective ends of the plurality of individual electric wires are connected. The contact part is received by the mating connector. The coupler grasps the intermediate member to which the plurality of individual electric wires are connected for guiding the intermediate member to a predetermined position of the mating connector.

A differential signal transmission connector includes an insulative housing. A plurality of pairs of differential signal transmission contacts and a plurality of grounding contacts are provided in the insulative housing. The differential signal transmission contacts and the grounding contacts are arranged in two rows. A first contact from each of the pairs of the differential signal transmission contacts is arranged in a first row, and a second contact from each of the pairs of the differential signal transmission contacts is arranged in a second row. The grounding contacts are arranged in the first row between each of the first contacts and the grounding contacts are arranged in the second row between each of the second contacts.

An electrical connector has an insulating housing provided with first and second contacts. A positioning guide protrudes from a mating surface of the housing. At least one barrier wall is formed between the first and second contacts that separates the first contacts from the second contacts. A mating connector has an insulating mating housing provided with first and second mating contacts and a positioning recessed member that receives the positioning guide. A barrier wall recessed member is formed between the first and second mating contacts that separates the first mating contacts from the second mating contacts. The barrier wall recessed member receives the barrier wall when the electrical connector is mated with the mating connector. A shutter member is provided on the mating connector and is moveable between an upper position and a lower position. The shutter member covers the first and second mating contacts in the upper position.

Electrical connector and electrical connector assembly

A coupler for an electrical connector assembly includes first and second holding members that mate to fix a flexible flat cable therebetween. At least one of the first or second holding members has an inner surface provided with a metallic shell that contacts an exposed grounding member of the flexible flat cable. The metallic shell has a contact member extending therefrom that engages a metallic shielding shell on a housing of an electrical connector.

Coupler for flat cables and electrical connector assembly

An electrical connector assembly comprises a flexible flat cable and a coupler. The flexible flat cable has a tip. A plurality of conductors is provided on a section of the tip between ends thereof. The coupler includes a first holding member mated with a second holding member. The flexible flat cable is positioned between the first and second holding members. The coupler is arranged behind the tip such that both sides of the tip are exposed. The coupler has a width longer than the section of the tip provided with the conductors.

A partition mechanism is arranged in a shell of a receptacle connector so that a connector interface defined by the shell is partitioned into two interface portions, one of which has a shape different from the other. Therefore a mating connector for the connector can be connected with one or two interface portions, depending on a shape of a connector interface of the mating connector. In an example, a plug connector for high resolution signals is connected with two interface portions of the receptacle connector, while another plug connector for low resolution signals is connected with only one interface portion of the receptacle connector.
