A steering apparatus includes an engaging portion movable in a predetermined moving direction at a time of a secondary collision; a fixation portion fixed to a vehicle body; and an absorbing member. The absorbing member includes a fixed portion fixed to the fixation portion, an engaged portion facing the engaging portion, and a connecting portion that includes a curved portion and connects the fixed portion and the engaged portion. An area of a cross-section of the curved portion taken along a plane perpendicular to a creeping direction along the curved portion varies depending on a position in the creeping direction. The connecting portion of the absorbing member is deformed so that the absorbing member absorbs energy of the secondary collision.

Steering apparatus

In a steering device, the upper side portion of a rubber bootis fixedly fitted on a case outer cylindrical componentof a cable case, and the lower side portion of the rubber bootis fixed to a dashboardof a vehicle bodyover the entire circumference thereof. Thus, the case outer cylindrical componentcan be secured against rotation more firmly compared with a prior art steering device wherein such a case outer cylindrical component is fixed at two portions thereon by means of a wire of a V-letter shape. Further, the problem attendant on the wire of the V-letter shape in the prior art steering device no longer arises even in the car models wherein the case outer cylindrical componentand the dashboardare relatively far from each other. That is, it can be realized to secure the case outer cylindrical componentof the cable caseagainst rotation relative to the vehicle bodyeven in any car model.

Steering device

A transfer ratio varying apparatus includes: a steering shaft configured to transmit a steering angle, an actuator connected to the steering shaft and a damper disposed between the input shaft and the steering shaft and configured to absorb vibration caused by the actuator. The actuator includes: a housing, an input shaft configured to integrally rotate with the housing and connected to the steering shaft, a motor including a rotatable shaft, an output shaft configured to transmit an angle to a wheel assembly, and a gear mechanism between the rotatable shaft and the output shaft at the housing, configured to adjust a rotational angle of the rotatable shaft and to output the adjusted rotational angle to the output shaft.

Transfer ratio varying apparatus

A hydraulic power steering apparatus includes a pump for discharging pressurized operation fluid, a power cylinder for generating assisting force, a control valve connected to the pump via a fluid path for receiving the operation fluid from the pump and adapted to supply the operation fluid to the power cylinder in accordance with operation of a steering wheel, a rubber hose disposed in the fluid path. A check valve is disposed between the rubber hose and the control valve. Since reverse flow of the operation fluid due to input of kick-back force is prevented, tires to be steered are prevented from undesirably steered against the driver's intention. Further, a pressure relieving mechanism is provided to relieve part of the operation fluid when the check valve operates. Therefore, the oil pressure within the power cylinder and the control valve is prevented from increasing excessively, so that the oil pressure within the pump does not reach a preset relief pressure.
