A vehicular AC generator comprises a stator connected to a front bracket and a rear bracket, a rotor fixedly mounted on a rotational shaft rotatably supported by both the brackets, and a front fan and a rear fan each serving for cooling the generator. A plurality of air intake holes are formed around the inner circumstance of each bracket, while a plurality of air outlet holes are formed around the outer circumstance of the same. As the rotor is rotated, cooling air is introduced into the generator through the air intake holes and then exhausted to the outside through the air outlet holes while cooling the interior of the generator. The number of blades on each fan is set to a certain odd numeral, and moreover, the number of blades on the front fan is different from that of the rear fan. The number of blades on each fan may be set to an odd numeral which is not a multiple of numeral of three. Alternatively, the number of blades on at least the front fan may be set to an odd number which is not a multiple of the number of air intake holes formed on the front bracket. The aforementioned characterizing feature of the vehicular AC generator is equally applicable to a three-phase AC generator as it is.

Vehicular AC generator

An ignition distributor for an internal combustion engine comprises a distributing rotor which rotates about a rotational axis in synchronism with the internal combustion engine and a distributing cap adapted to enclose the distributing rotor. The distributing rotor has a rotor electrode mounted away from the rotational axis. The rotor electrode has a tip end which extends along a circular path that the rotor electrode describes when it rotates. The distributing cap is provided with side electrodes disposed concentrically with the distributing rotor and oppositely to the tip end with a predetermined gap between the side electrodes and the tip end. The tip end is covered by the dielectric member only in part in a direction transversely of the circular path. The tip end may be provided with a recess extending along the circular path for receiving the dielectric member therein.

Ignition distributor for internal combustion engine

In a starting motor which has reduction gears including a planet gear and in which at least one end part of an internal gear of the reduction gears is fastened in engagement with an elastic member so as to hold the internal gear within a housing in sandwiched fashion; the improvement comprising the fact that the surface of the annular elastic member abutting on the internal gear is uneven.

Starting motor

An engine starter protecting device which prevents engagement of the starter's pinion with the ring gear of the engine, even when the engine is rotating. Sensors detect when the gear shift lever is in the neutral position, when the frequency of the ignition pulses for the engine is above a predetermined value, when the vacuum pressure of the intake air to the engine is at or below a predetermined value, when the vacuum pressure of the intake air to the engine is at or below a predetermined value, and when the output voltage from the altenator of the invention exceeds a predetermined voltage. The electromagnetic switch which controls the starter motor is prevented from operating unless the outputs from the detectors are in predetermined states.

Engine starter protecting device

This invention relates to a starting system for an internal combustion engine comprising a prime mover, a pinion which is disposed at one end of the rotary shaft of the prime mover and which is held in rushing-in meshing engagement with a ring gear of an engine, the engine being a first load device, and a one-way clutch which is disposed at the other end of the rotary shaft of the prime mover and which generates a driving force in only a rotating direction reverse to a driving direction of the ring gear, a unidirectional turning force being applied to a second load device through the one-way clutch.

Starting system for internal combustion engine

An automatic starter for a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission with which excessively abrupt starting of the engine of the vehicle is inhibited. The automatic starter includes an accelerator pedal having first and second accelerator pedal members. The first accelerator pedal member is attached to the second accelerator pedal member through a returning elastic member so as to be biased apart. A rod extends downwardly from the second accelerator pedal member through the first accelerator pedal member with the lower end of the rod forming the operating element of a solenoid. The two accelerator pedal members carry contacts which are closed when the second accelerator pedal member is depressed downwardly against the first accelerator pedal member. Upon the starting of the vehicle, the solenoid is energized to hold the two accelerator pedal members together.

Automatic starter

An engine starter protecting device which prevents engagement of the starter's pinion with the ring gear of the engine, even when the engine is rotating. Sensors detect when the gear shift lever is in the neutral position, when the frequency of the ignition pulses for the engine is above a predetermined value, when the vacuum pressure of the intake air to the engine is at or below a predetermined value, when the vacuum pressure of the intake air to the engine is at or below a predetermined value, and when the output voltage from the alternator of the invention exceeds a predetermined voltage. The electromagnetic switch which controls the starter motor is prevented from operating unless the outputs from the detectors are in predetermined states.

An air pump device comprises an electric motor, a low and a high pressure type pump disposed at both ends of a rotary shaft extending from the motor to be connected in series to each other through a discharge tube from the low pressure type pump extending to a suction port of the high pressure type pump, and an air suction tube connected via a valve to the discharge tube downstream of a change-over switch disposed in the discharge tube.

Pump device

A starting system for an internal combustion engine, comprising a stator; a cylindrical rotor which is arranged on an inner peripheral side of the stator with a predetermined gap therefrom; an overrunning clutch which includes a first cylindrical clutch body that is mounted on an inner peripheral surface of the rotor, and a second cylindrical clutch body that is clutch-coupled with the first clutch body; a rotary shaft which is penetratingly arranged on an inner peripheral portion of the second clutch body of the overrunning clutch, which is axially movable relative to the second clutch body and which rotates along with the second clutch body; a pinion which is disposed at one end of the rotary shaft and which is brought into meshing engagement with a ring gear of the engine being a first load device; a power transmission mechanism which is disposed at the other end of the rotary shaft and which transmits power to a second load device; and a shift lever which slides the rotary shaft in the axial direction thereof so as to connect a turning force of the rotary shaft to either of the first load device or the second load device.

An engine starter comprises a d.c. motor, a pinion secured to one end of the rotary shaft of the d.c. motor, a rotary flange having a ring gear which is always interlocked with the pinion to be driven, a flywheel which is on one hand, connected to the rotary flange through rotational force one-way coupling clutch and is, on the other hand, firmly secured to the crank shaft of the engine, an air motor connected to the other end of the rotary shaft of the d.c. motor and an air tank communicated to the air motor through a piping, an electromagnetic valve being interposed in the piping.

This invention relates to a starting motor with planetary gear reduction gears having a spur gear provided at the front end of the rotational shaft of the starting motor, an internal gear secured fixedly to the front end of the yoke of the motor, a planetary gear for engaging the spur gear with the internal gear, an output rotational shaft for transmitting the rotary force of the motor to the planetary gear, and a pair of collars provided on the internal gear at both ends of the teeth of the internal gear.

Described is a method of starting an electric starting motor for an internal combustion engine. The motor shaft has a pinion at the shaft end for meshing with a ring gear provided to the engine. The pinion is shifted by a shift lever into a position meshing with the ring gear, after which the starting motor is excited for causing rotation of the ring gear and thereby starting the engine.
