A brake control system for a motor vehicle comprising a brake control unit which controls increasing and decreasing of a brake pressure of a wheel cylinder from a pressure source by driving plural solenoid valves without a brake operation by a driver. The system comprises a flow back control unit which controls the brake pressure of a wheel cylinder to drive the plural solenoid valves before control by the brake control unit and returns the brake fluid to the pressure source from the wheel cylinder.

In an internal combustion engine provided with a variable valve mechanism that variably controls at least an operating characteristic (valve lift amount and the like) of an intake valve, a valve opening area AWm at a valve overlap time is calculated based on a valve lift amount (VCS-ANGL) and opening timing IVO of the intake valve, and a spit-back gas amount Wm at the valve overlap time is calculated based on the valve opening area AWm. On the other hand, a volume flow ratio (basic actual engine volume flow ratio) RQHVELin the intake valve, equivalent to an actual intake air amount of the engine, is calculated based on the valve lift amount and closing timing of the intake valve, and a basic residual gas amount Wcyl is calculated based on the basic actual engine volume flow ratio RQHVEL. Then, a resultant obtained by adding the spit-back gas amount Wm and the basic residual gas amount Wcyl, is set as a total residual gas amount of the engine. Further, in the case where an intake air amount control is performed by the variable valve mechanism, a target valve operating characteristic is set based on a target intake air amount which is set according to an operating condition of the engine, and the variable valve mechanism is controlled so that the valve operating characteristic of the intake valve reaches the target valve operating characteristic. At the moment, by executing a residual gas based correction to set the target valve operating characteristic, a high accurate intake air amount control is realized.

Variable valve control apparatus for internal combustion engine and method thereof

In an internal combustion engine provided with a variable valve mechanism that varies at least a valve operating characteristic (valve lift amount and the like) of an intake valve, a target intake air amount equivalent to a target torque is set based on operating conditions of the engine, to calculate a target volume flow ratio by dividing the target intake air amount by an engine rotation speed and total cylinder volume. The target volume flow ratio is corrected according to closing timing of the intake valve. If the valve lift amount of the intake valve is in a low valve lift region, the target volume flow ratio is further corrected according to the valve lift amount, and the post corrected target volume flow ratio is converted into a valve opening area of the intake valve to be set as a target valve opening area. Then, based on the target valve opening area, a target valve operating characteristic of the intake valve is set. Thereafter, the variable valve mechanism is controlled so that the valve operating characteristic of the intake valve reaches the target valve operating characteristic.

A controller that outputs control signals to an actuator of a variable valve timing mechanism is integrally equipped with a cam sensor that takes out from a camshaft signals for discriminating a cylinder corresponding to a reference piston position. The controller discriminates the cylinder corresponding to the reference piston position, computes a rotation phase of the camshaft relative to a crankshaft, and transmits the result of the cylinder discrimination process to an engine controller.

Cylinder judgment signals are output from cam sensors at every uneven crank angle interval. The number of cylinder judgment signals output per cam sensor during a time period between a previous output and a present output of cylinder judgment signals from the other cam sensor, is counted up, to judge a specific cylinder based on the number of outputs. As a result, cylinders other than the specific cylinder are judged based on the judgment result and the cylinder judgment signals. Simultaneously, a time period from the previous cylinder judgment to the present cylinder judgment is calculated, to judge erroneous detection of cylinder judgment signal due to noise based on a ratio between a previous calculation value and a present calculation value of the time period. When the erroneous detection is judged, the cylinder judgment result based on the cylinder judgment signals is canceled.

Cylinder judgment apparatus and cylinder judgment method of engine

An open-close characteristic of an intake valve is controlled so that a target intake air amount for an engine can be obtained, and also a retarded angle limitation of closing timing of an exhaust valve is set based on opening timing of the intake valve, to control an open-close characteristic of the exhaust valve so that the closing timing of the exhaust valve becomes a more advance angle side than the retarded angle limitation.

The reference valve timing of an intake valve and an exhaust valve is set based on an engine load detected and an engine rotation speed detected. An engine start and an engine idling condition are detected. The valve timing of the intake valve and the exhaust valve is controlled, while maintaining valve overlap amounts to be substantially the same, so that a valve overlap center becomes at an advance side from an exhaust top dead center, with respect to the reference valve timing, at the engine start and in the idling condition during a predetermined period of time after the engine start.
