Disclosed is a smart signal generator for generating a signal representing a motion. The device includes a processing device associated with a motion sensor and a signal generator and a power source. The signal generator is a light source. When the motion sensor generates data indicating the smart signal generator is slowing down, the processing device activates the signal generator which generates a motion signal. One embodiment of a motion signal is a red light.

A system and method for determining handwritten character segmentation shape parameters for a user in automated handwriting recognition by prompting the user for a training sample; obtaining an image that includes handwritten text that corresponds to the training sample; sweeping the image with shapes corresponding to parameters to determine coordinates of the shapes in the image; segmenting the image into segmented characters based on the coordinates of the shapes; determining character segmentation accuracies of the parameters; and storing an association between the user and the parameters. The system and method can further include receiving a writing sample from the same user and utilizing the stored parameters to segment characters in the writing sample for use in automated handwriting recognition of the writing sample.

Methods and systems for efficient handwritten character segmentation

The invention relates to a magnetic based mounting apparatus configured for supporting and or securing devices to a surface such as the windshield of a car or a window glass. Such magnetic based mounting apparatus comprises a first magnetic component configured for being associated with a first side of a mounting surface and a second magnetic component configured for being disposed on an opposing second side of said mounting surface adjacent to said first magnetic component thereby magnetically associating the two magnetic components.

The disclosed inventions comprise a device that may be mechanically and electrically associated with a typical lighting fixture found in a building or home, has low power consumption, provide a typical lighting when such lighting fixture is providing power to the device and comprises a battery backup to provide an emergency lighting feature when the power is out. The device may further be removed from the lighting fixture and used as a typical flashlight. The device may further be electrically and remotely associated with devices such as cell phones and systems such as alarm systems to provide emergency services.

An automated method for extracting highlighted regions in a scanned text documents includes color masking of highlight regions, extracting text from highlighted regions, recognizing the characters in extracted text optically and inserting the recognized characters to new document in order to easily identify highlighted text in scanned images. Using a two-layer multi-mask compression technology configured in a scanned export image path, edges and text regions can be extracted and together with the use of mask coordinates and associated mask colors, all highlighted texts can be easily identified and extracted. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) can then be utilized to appropriate summarization of different extracted highlighted texts.

The disclosed invention relates to smart light apparatuses compunctions particularly well suited for providing wireless communications between a true vehicle and a died in being towed such as a trailer. The disclosed invention relates to an apparatus and method for making secured transactions. Such an apparatus may include a smart card device configured with a display for display a static or dynamic number for making a secured transaction. The display is configured to display a valid card number after the user's identify has been verified using a biometric verification process. The device may further comprise a programmable magnetic strip that is programmed with user data after the user's identify has been verified. The apparatus may further include a cloning process to allow a second device to perform secure transactions. One such second device is a smart module associated with a vehicle.
