A method for carbon dioxide (CO) storage includes injecting a brine solution into a subterranean anhydrite-rich formation, then injecting carbon dioxide into the subterranean anhydrite-rich formation and reacting the carbon dioxide with the subterranean anhydrite-rich formation to form one or more minerals thereby sequestering the carbon dioxide in the subterranean anhydrite-rich formation. The temperature in the subterranean anhydrite-rich formation is from 300 Kelvin (K) to 365 K and the pressure in the subterranean anhydrite-rich formation is from 90 bar to 120 bar.

Method for carbon dioxide storage utilizing carbon dioxide sequestration in an anhydrite-rich formation

A method of hydrogen storage is described. The method includes injecting hydrogen into a subterranean banded iron formation, including magnetite, hematite, and/or pyrite, where the hydrogen is mainly hydrogen (H) gas based on the total volume of the hydrogen. Further, the subterranean banded iron formation includes mainly magnetite, hematite, and/or pyrite based on a total weight of the subterranean banded iron formation, where the hydrogen is adsorbed on the magnetite, the hematite, and/or the pyrite. Further, the method includes injecting ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid into the subterranean banded iron formation to release the hydrogen from the magnetite, the hematite, and/or the pyrite.

Subterranean banded iron based injection fluid for hydrogen storage

A method of hydrogen storage and recovery includes injecting saline water into a subterranean gas storage cell in a subterranean geologic formation, including magnetite. The method further includes injecting a gas mixture having hydrogen gas at a positive pressure into the subterranean gas storage cell, and then storing a portion of the hydrogen gas in the magnetite under a storage condition. At least a portion of hydrogen is desorbed of the hydrogen gas from the magnetite by injecting a chelating solution into the subterranean gas storage cell.
