Cosmetic composition for the care of the hair containing an aqueous dispersion phase, comprising at least one ionic or nonionic amphiphilic lipid associated with at least one stabilising additive and at least one natural or synthetic essential oil. The essential oil represents 0.2 to 20% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition and the ratio by weight of the lipidic phase to the essential oil(s) is between 0.3 and 10.

To prepare an aqueous dispersion of lamellar lipid vesicles, at least one lipid is dissolved in at least one water-immiscible organic solvent; the organic phase thus obtained is added to an aqueous phase in such amounts that a dispersion of the oil-in-water type is obtained by vigorous stirring; the evaporation of the solvent(s) is carried out with vigorous stirring, the continuous phase of the dispersion always remaining the aqueous phase; and, should it become necessary, the dispersion is concentrated. The process can be carried out at low temperature (of the order of 35.degree. to 55.degree. C.), which makes it possible to encapsulate in the aqueous phase or to introduce into the vesicle sheets heat-sensitive active substances; the lipid concentration in the organic phase can reach up to 50% by weight.

Process for the preparation of an aqueous dispersion of lipid vesicles

The invention relates to a composition intended for inducing and stimulating hair growth and decreasing its loss, containing, in a physiologically acceptable medium, at least one pyrimidine derivative corresponding to the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 denotes ##STR2## where R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are hydrogen, lower cycloalkyl, alkyl, alkenyl or alkylaryl, it also being possible for R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, to form a heterocycle, preferably piperidyl, and R.sub.2 is preferably hydrogen, as well as its addition salts with physiologically acceptable acids; and at least one agent screening out UV radiation, selected from 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone, 2-ethylhexyl para-dimethylaminobenzoate, pentyl para-dimethylaminobenzoate, 2-ethylhexylpara-methoxycinnamate, 4-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4'-methoxydibenzoylmethane, N-(2-ethylhexyl)-3-[(3'-methoxy-4'-n-butoxy)benzylidene]-10-camphorsulphon amide, 3-(4-methylbenzylidene)camphor, homomenthyl salicylate, 2-ethylhexyl salicylate, para-aminobenzoic acid and 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone-5-sulphonic acid, as well as mixtures thereof.

Composition for inducing and stimulating hair growth and/or retarding

Cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition consisting of a dispersion in a physiologically acceptable aqueous phase D of vesicles of ionic and/or nonionic amphiphilic lipid(s), the vesicles being bounded by one or more lipid lamellae, the lipid lamellae containing at least one retinoid compound and the aqueous dispersion phase a pyrimidine derivative. The said composition may be used by topical application on the hair and scalp.
