A method for configuring an electrical contact zone of a terminal includes providing the terminal having a contact portion extending in a longitudinal direction of the terminal, forming a contact dome having a radius in the contact portion of the terminal, and forming a contact zone in the terminal at the contact dome. The contact zone is formed subsequent to a start of the step of forming the contact dome.

The invention relates to an electro-optical or electromechanical structural component, in particular, an LED, connector or stamped grid, or sliding element, made of a rolled metal substrate of a metal strip, or a sheet produced therefrom, made of Cu or a Cu alloy strip, Al or an Al alloy strip, Fe or a Fe alloy strip, Ti or a Ti alloy strip, Ni or a Ni alloy strip or a stainless steel strip, which has a specially structured surface. The invention discloses a semi-finished product for making plug-in contacts in plug-in connectors for electric DC power systems in motor vehicles which are operated at a nominal voltage at which electric arcing may occur, having an electrically conductive main body made of a non-precious metallic material that carries, at least in part, a contact-making coating of a material more precious than the material of the main body. It is provided according to the invention that the coating has thickness of at least 0.3 &#x3bc;m and consists of silver or of a silver-based alloy with an addition that will not form an alloy with silver or with the silver-based alloy, or will at best form a precipitation alloy, and which has a higher melting point than silver.

Electrical plug contacts and a semi-finished product for the production thereof

A band-shaped semi-finished product is made out of a ductile material and is configured to be separated into at least two sections. At least one pair of wedge-shaped, non-cuttingly formed longitudinal notches are formed, between the tips of which there remains a thin web of material, which can be torn easily with little force. The semi-finished product is distinguished by burr-free separated edges, defined geometry of the separating surfaces, and extremely reduced breaking-surface portions. It shows improved resistance during static and dynamic stress, in particular for alternating bending loads, in comparison to conventional, for example via the rolling-cutting technique, separated semi-finished products.

The reaction layer required between covering layer and intermediate layer consists of Ag, an Ag alloy or Pt and Pd and its alloys. Furthermore, the invention relates to a process for producing a composite material from the layer sequence with a subsequent heat treatment.

An electrically conductive composite material for use in the manufacture of electrical contact components, consisting of a metal strip and a contact layer made of a silver or tin contact material, which contact layer is applied at least to one side of the metal strip, whereby the contact material contains as a first additive 0.5 to 60 weight percentage of carbon powder in the form of fine particles having a diameter of &#xf8;=5 to 200 nm and 0.5 to 60 weight percentage of a second powdery additive in the form of fine particles having a diameter of &#xf8;=5 to 200 nm. Moreover a device for the gas atomization of a jet of a flowable or liquid material and a method for the manufacture of an electrically conductive composite material and its use are disclosed.

Composite material for use in the manufacture of electrical contacts and a method for its manufacture

An electric contact comprises a main body consisting of a copper-based alloy or of stainless steel and a contact layer consisting of a gold-based alloy. The contact layer has a thickness of at least 0.3 &#x3bc;m and consists of gold with a content of 0.5 percent by weight to 15 percent by weight of one or more platinum group metals, and that an intermediate layer consisting of silver or of a silver-based alloy or of nickel is provided between the main body and the contact layer. The contact layer is preferably applied on the main body by a PVD process.

Electric contact

The invention relates to a strip composite material with a base material of a metal or a metal alloy and a tin coating on the surface, whereby an intermetallic phase (IMP) is formed between the base material and the coating. In particular for achieving good wear and corrosion resistance of the composite material with a simultaneously oxide-free surface, 1 to 50 At.-%, preferably 6 to 30 At.-%, carbon (C) are embedded in an outer surface region of the tin coating up to a thickness D of approximately 2 .mu.m. A method (oil treatment) and apparatus for the manufacture of the composite material of the invention are also disclosed.

Strip composite material and a method and apparatus for its manufacture

A strip-shaped or wire-shaped compound material with a base material of copper or a copper alloy and with a moltenly applied surface coating of a tin alloy, whereby between both materials there is formed an intermetallic phase. The inventive additive of 0.001 to 0.5% cobalt to pure tin or a tin alloy results in a particularly fine-granular, smooth intermetallic phase and not only a higher total layer hardness, a better bendability, a higher shearing resistance and a lower elasticity module, but, in particular, also a high creeping resistance. The compound material can be utilized within a wide range for electromechanical and electrooptical structural elements, plug connectors and soldered structural parts.

Strip shaped or wire-shaped compound material

A ship that is partially hot-tin-plated with at least one metallic coating track extending in longitudinal direction on or both of its upper and lower surfaces and/or along one or both side edges. An intermetallic phase exists between the ship material and the coated track. In order to satisfy the many uses for partially tin-plated ships in the electronics and electrotechnical fields and for the manufacture of semiconductor elements, the track, viewed in longitudinal direction, is interrupted according to the invention at regular and/or irregular spacings (A.sub.1, A.sub.2, A.sub.3 . . . ).
