A method of suturing provides an endoscopic suture system. The endoscopic suture system has a needle coupled with a suture. The needle is configured to rotate in a first rotational direction. The system has a cable configured to move in a first direction and a second direction. The cable and the needle are configured to movably couple and uncouple. When the cable and the needle are coupled, movement of the cable in the first direction causes rotation of the needle in the first rotational direction. The method pulls the cable in the second direction, without rotating the needle, to cause coupling of the cable with the needle. The method pulls the cable in the first direction, after the needle and the cable are coupled, to rotate the needle.

Catheter steering handles that are ergonomically designed to enable an operator to reduce hand fatigue. Various ergonomic aspects of the disclosed steering handles include geometries that more naturally conform to the palm of the hand and that enable the hand to be held in a natural, low stress posture during operation of the steering handle. In another aspect of the disclosure, the catheter steering handle is configured so that the operator can release or partially release the grip on the handle, thereby enabling the operator to relax and flex the hand, thereby reducing fatigue.

Embodiments of the disclosure include an endoscope accessory assembly for use on an endoscope, during procedures. The endoscope accessory assembly may comprise an accessory device comprising a first base, a plurality of flexible struts, and webbing connecting each of the flexible struts. The accessory device is configured to receive a distal end of an endoscope. The endoscope accessory assembly may further comprise a dimension-compensating component comprising a second base, a plurality of flexible arms extending radially out from the second base, and at least one chamber at a distal end of the flexible arms. The accessory device is configured to be over-molded onto the dimension-compensating component in order to form the endoscope accessory assembly.

Provided herein is an endoscopic suturing system configured for attachment to, and use with, an endoscope.

In one embodiment, a medical device includes a first arm portion, a second arm portion and a base portion. The first arm portion has an inner surface and an outer surface. The second arm portion has a tissue piercing portion at a distal end, an inner surface and an outer surface. The base portion extends between the first arm portion and the second arm portion. A distance between the inner surface of the first arm portion and the inner surface of the second arm portion defines a depth of penetration into a tissue of a patient.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to cannulating devices and methods for exchanging cannulating devices in an endoscopic procedure. In one implementation, an apparatus for endoscopic operations is described. The apparatus includes a cannulating device to be introduced through an internal lumen of an endoscope via a biopsy port. The cannulating device has an elongated body. The elongated body includes a guidewire lumen configured to receive a guidewire therein, and a slit extending over at least a portion of the length of the elongated body from a distal tip to a proximal position of the elongated body.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to apparatuses, systems, and methods for merging a balloon catheter onto a locked guidewire. In one implementation, a balloon catheter may include an inflatable balloon affixed thereto and a slit extending from a distal end of a guidewire lumen to a position proximal of the balloon. The slit may be widened by a working member of an adapter to allow passage of the locked guidewire into the guidewire lumen of the balloon catheter. The balloon catheter may be merged onto the guidewire via the slit and delivered to the desired treatment device without requiring the guidewire to be unlocked. Advantageously, access to at least one desired treatment site may be maintained with the guidewire during merging of the balloon catheter.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to apparatuses, systems, and methods for merging an endoscopic basket delivery catheter onto a fixed guidewire. In one implementation, a catheter may include a sheath having a saddle secured to a distal portion thereof. The sheath may constrain an endoscopic tool such as a basket therein, while the saddle may receive a portion of a guidewire. The saddle may include a slit extending along its longitudinal length. The slit may be widened by a working member of an adapter to allow passage of a locked guidewire into the guidewire lumen of the saddle. The catheter may be merged onto the guidewire via the slit and delivered to the desired treatment device without unlocking of the guidewire. Advantageously, access to at least one desired treatment site may be maintained with the guidewire during merging of the catheter.

In one embodiment, an implant includes a support member configured to be placed within a body of a patient and provide support to a portion of the body of the patient, a tether coupled to an end portion of the support member; and an anchor configured to be disposed within a tissue of the body of the patient to help retain the implant in place within the body of the patient. The tether is coupled to the anchor such that the tether may move with respect to the anchor in a first direction but is retrained from moving in a second direction. In one embodiment, a method of placing an implant within a body of a patient includes making an incision in the body of the patient, inserting the implant into the body of the patient through the incision, placing the implant within the body of the patient such that a support member provides support to a portion of the body and an anchor helps retain the implant in place within the body of the patient, closing the incision, and adjusting the tension of the implant after closing the incision.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for device exchange in an endoscopic procedure. In one implementation, a system for device exchange in an endoscopic procedure includes an elongated device having a slit extending from a distal end to a proximal end of the elongated device, a main block, and an adapter. The main block is configured to be affixed to a port of an endoscope. The main block includes a main channel for receiving a guidewire and the elongated device. The adapter can be engaged with the main block and configured to merge the guidewire into the elongated device. The adapter includes a working channel for receiving the elongated device and a working member raising from an inner wall of the working channel. When the elongated device passes through the working channel, the working member wedges open a portion of the slit of the elongated device such that a portion of the guidewire merges into the elongated device through the opened portion of the slit.

Systems and methods for device exchange in an endoscopic procedure

An apparatus includes an elongate member having a distal end portion and a proximal end portion. The elongate member defines a longitudinal axis. The distal end portion of the elongate member defines a notch having a face defining an axis. The axis of the face and the longitudinal axis define an acute angle with respect to a first direction along the longitudinal axis. The notch is configured to retain a loop of a suture when the elongate member is moved through a tissue of a patient in the first direction along the longitudinal axis. The notch is configured to release the loop of the suture when the elongate member is moved through the tissue of the patient in a second direction different than the first direction. The suture has at least one tissue anchor configured to be disposed within the tissue of the patient.

Apparatus for delivering and anchoring implantable medical devices

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to apparatuses, devices, and methods for secure connections between tubular structures. In one implementation, a first tube constructed of nitinol may have windows formed on an end thereof. A second tube constructed of stainless steel tube may be inserted within the first tube, and the windows may be filled with adhesive or solder. The adhesive or solder may bond with the first tube, forming connection pins which secure the tubes together. In some embodiments, the connected tubes may form an endoscopic needle. The nitinol portion of the needle may be sufficiently flexible for positioning within the bending section of an endoscope without deformation. The stainless steel portion of the needle may render the needle significantly less expensive than prior needles constructed solely of nitinol.

Apparatuses and methods for endoscopic tool joints

Embodiments of the disclosure may include an endoscope floor stand. In accordance with one embodiment, an endoscope floor stand may include a base and an adjustable body. The body may include at least a first elongated structure having a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is connected to the base. The body may also include at least a second elongated structure slideably moveable relative to the first elongated structure to adjust a height of the endoscope floor stand, and the second elongated structure may be suspended above the base. The stand may also include a ball joint, wherein at least a portion of the ball joint is configured to removably couple to an end of the body located opposite the base. The ball joint may also include a holder extending from the ball joint and dimensioned to receive an endoscope.
