This invention is directed to a water soluble sachet comprising a detergent composition having a discrete particle that enhances cleaning in a dishwashing machine. The water soluble sachet unexpectedly results in excellent cleaning properties and minimizes spot and film formation on items being cleaned in a dishwasher.

A solid detergent composition useful for machine dishwashing is described. The product contains a first layer having an oxygen bleach system, a buffering system, a builder, and an enzyme. The first layer dissolves to deliver a pH of about 8.5 to about 11 in the wash water. A second layer includes an effective amount of an acidity agent and a continuous medium having a melting point in the range of from about 35.degree. C. to about 50.degree. C. The material may be a paraffin wax, a natural wax, a polyvinyl ether, fatty acids and mixtures thereof. The second layer dissolves in wash water to deliver a pH of from about 6.5 to about 9. The release order of the functional ingredients allows for a high level of peracid species generation in the initial wash stages followed by optimum bleaching throughout the wash.

A solid detergent composition useful for machine dishwashing is described. The product contains a first layer having a buffering system, a builder and an enzyme. The first layer dissolves to deliver a pH of about 9.0 to about 11 in the wash water. A second layer includes a peracid and an acidity agent in a continuous medium having a melting point in the range of from about 35.degree. C. to about 50.degree. C. The material may be a paraffin wax, a natural wax, a polyvinyl ether, fatty acids and mixtures thereof. The second layer dissolves in wash water to deliver a pH of from about 6.5 to about 9. The release order of the functional ingredients allows for a optimum bleaching of stains as well as removal of soil.

Machine dishwashing tablets containing a peracid

A solid detergent composition and a method of using the composition in a machine dishwasher is described. The product contains a first layer having an oxygen bleaching system, a buffering system of a builder, and an enzyme. The first layer dissolves to deliver a pH of about 8.5 to about 11 in the wash water. A second layer includes an effective amount of an acidity agent selected from an inorganic acid, an organic acid and mixtures thereof, a continuous medium having a melting point in the range of from about 55.degree. C. to about 70.degree. C. and an anti-scaling agent. The second layer dissolves in wash water to deliver a pH of from about 6.5 to about 9.

Machine dishwashing tablets delivering a rinse aid benefit

A warewashing composition for a machine dishwasher and a method of using it is described. The composition comprises effective amounts of an organic peroxy acid, and an amylase enzyme which, when incubated at 55.degree. C. in a solution of 2 mM sodium citrate, 1 mM epsilon phthalimidoperoxyhexanoic acid in 36 ppm water at pH 8.0, has a half-life of two minutes or greater based on an activity vs. time plot obtained via monitoring color development at 405 nm of solution samples incubated with p-nitrophenyl-.alpha.-D-maltoheptaoside as substrate and gluco amylase and .alpha.-glucosidase as coupled enzymes; and 1% to 75% by weight of a builder. A 1% aqueous solution of the composition must have a pH of less than 10.
