Examples disclosed herein relate to viewing device adjustment based on eye accommodation in relation to a display. In one implementation, a computing device determines accommodation information related to a viewer's focus on an image rendered on a display. The computing device may cause an optical component associated with a viewing device to adjust based on the determined accommodation.

Embodiments of the present invention disclose a system and method for focus-based touch detection. According to one embodiment, a reference pattern is formed on a surface and an imaging device is configured to detect the reference pattern and the presence of an object within proximity of a contact area of the surface. Furthermore, focus information associated with the reference pattern and/or object is used to determine if the detected object is touching or hovering said contact area.

A video sequence control system that includes an input video frame buffer and an output video frame selection component is described. The input video frame buffer receives input video frames from a video source. The output video frame selection component determines the video frame to be output according to a scheduler that provides timing information and modulation information. The timing information includes information regarding when a video frame will be output. The modulation information varies dependent upon the frame types available to be output, wherein the available frame types include at least image frames from the input video frame buffer and functional frames, wherein the at least image frames and functional frames are output according to a pattern defined by the scheduler. In addition based on the timing information, a synchronization output signal is output corresponding to the output of the functional frame.

System and method for video frame sequence control

A method to present participants in a video conference including determining a participant distance and aligning a region of interest on the participant using one or more depth cameras, creating a cropped video stream of the participant by cropping the region of interest from a video stream of the participant, and arranging the cropped video stream of the participant with additional cropped video streams of additional participants for display in the video conference.

An alpha matte is generated from image forming elements of an image. For each of one or more of the image forming elements: a respective representative foreground value is determined from one or more of the image forming element values; the respective representative foreground value and the value of the image forming element are normalized with respect to a threshold level; and a respective value of the alpha matte is generated from an evaluation of the normalized image forming element value in relation to the normalized representative foreground value.

A system and a method solve the estimation problem of finding reflectance R and illumination L. The system and method to solve a functional of the unknown illumination L such that a minimum of the functional is assumed to yield a good estimate of the illumination L. Having a good estimate of the illumination L implies a good estimate of the reflectance R. The functional uses a variational framework to express requirements for the optimal solution. The requirements include: 1) that the illumination L is spatially smooth; 2) that the reflectance values are in the interval [0,1] &#x2014;thus, when decomposing the image S, the solution should satisfy the constraint L&#x3e;S; 3) that among all possible solutions, the estimate of the illumination L should be as close as possible to the image S, so that the contrast of the obtained R is maximal; and 4) that the reflectance R complies with typical natural image behavior (e.g., the reflectance is piece-wise smooth).

System and method for image enhancement, dynamic range compensation and illumination correction

A method an apparatus uses a variational approach for space dependent gamut mapping. The method presents a new measure for the problem. A solution to the formulation according to the method is unique if the gamut of the target device is known. A quadratic programming efficient numerical solution provides real-time results.

A method for real-time video communication. Specifically, one embodiment of the present invention discloses a method of video conferencing that captures a plurality of real-time video streams of a local participant from a plurality of sample viewpoints. From the plurality of video streams, a new view synthesis technique can be applied to generate a video image stream in real-time of the local participant rendered from a second location of a second participant with respect to a first location of the local participant in a coordinate space of a virtual environment. A change in either of the locations leads to the modifying of the video image stream, thereby enabling real-time video communication from the local participant to the second participant.

An input image represented by a set of input pixel values is color-corrected by locally modifying the input pixel values according to pixel neighborhoods; and determining an output image having a set of output pixel values. Each set of output pixel values equals a non-linear combination of a set of input pixel values and its corresponding set of modified pixel values.

Local color correction

The invention is directed towards method and apparatus for performing local color correction. One embodiment of the invention is a two-part process. The first part derives an image mask from an input image. In some embodiments, the mask is an inverted, low-pass filtered, monochrome version of the input image. The second part combines the derived mask with the input image through a non-linear operation. In some embodiments, the combination operation is a variable exponential function that has the mask values as part of its exponent and the pixel values as part of its base.
