Disclosed is a light pipe structure configured for transmittal of light rays, the light pipe structure including a light entry end associated with a visible end via a light pipe body, the light entry end being configured for entrance of the light rays, and a depression disposed in a visible surface of the visible end, the depression being disposed substantially along a major axis of the visible surface.

A lighting unit including a housing that has a base and opposing cover that is coupled to the base. A is lens disposed between the base and cover to form an inner receiving area. A light support member is disposed in the inner receiving area and supports a plurality of light sources. An axial opening extends through each of the cover and base, respectively. The axial opening has a central opening portion for receiving a support structure and an access opening portion. A mounting segment is releasably engagable with the housing and receivable in the access opening portion of the housing whereby removal of the segment provides access to the central opening portion and allows mounting of the housing on the support structure.

An emergency sign including a vertically extending sign body having a lower panel portion and an upper container portion. The panel portion includes laterally spaced right and left panels where at least one of the panels has a stencil forming the sign display. The upper container portion is in optical communication with the display and forms a longitudinally extending container. A light module disposed within the container portion of the housing has multiple light emitting diodes for illuminating the display. A swivel mounting assembly pivotally connects the container portion of the housing to a mounting plate assembly which receives a mechanical mounting member of the external electrical supply to mount the sign to a structure.

A hand-held beacon uniquely suited for hailing taxicabs is an excellent signaling device that is easy to operate and adaptable for carrying. Pushing a button on the handle portion closes a circuit to cause a light source at the top of the handle portion to beam light. In some embodiments, a reflective, blocking layer adhesively attached to the inside of the device focuses the light in a desired direction. Also desirably, the device has a plurality of annular bands. The reflective layer, which reflects light coming from outside in some embodiments is reflective also on the inside for enhanced distribution of light through the light element.

An LED signal module includes a casing defining a cavity. Within the cavity is an array of LEDs. Individual reflectors are placed around individual LEDs of the array. The individual reflectors are structured to receive direct light from their associated individual LEDs and substantially to prevent direct light from their associated individual LEDs from impinging upon the individual reflectors of other LEDs of the array of LEDs. Also included, and covering the cavity, is a lens shaped to direct the output luminance of the LEDs below a horizontal axis of the module.

A magnifier lens assembly mounted within a lamp head including a barrel housing and a first, second and third lens, each of the lenses having a convex surface, an opposing substantially planar surface and a center axis of symmetry of the convex surface; the first, second and third lenses being mounted successively and coaxially within the barrel housing with the convex surface of the first lens facing the convex surface of the second lens, and the substantially planar surface of the second lens facing the convex surface of the third lens wherein the barrel housing includes means for securing the lenses in relatively fixed relation to each other and means for securing said magnifier lens assembly within said lamp head.

An apparatus for ambulatory intravenous delivery of substances to a recipient comprising a container and delivery means for pressurized delivery of the substance. The container communicates with a source of pressurized gas to provide the pressurizing force and is uniquely attachable to the recipient so as to provide portability to the system. The flow rate is controlled by feedback electronics connected to a flow rate meter and a throttle valve. The flow rate meter has a heating resistor in the flow path of the substance and a thermistor to detect a temperature rise in the substance downstream from the resistor. A constriction in the flow tube is disposed between the resistor and thermistor to cause a flat wavefront of temperature increase. The throttle valve is a pin disposed partially within a tube to form an annular gap. The flow rate is adjusted by changing the distance the pin extends into the tube and thereby change the length of the annular gap.

A foldable step stool comprises a pair of rectangular frame members, one disposed within the other and having pivotally connected side rails thus permitting the members to assume an open position, in which the side rails intersect in an 'X'-configuration, and a closed position in which the inner frame is contained entirely within the outer frame. Two steps extend between the side rails of the frame members, the ends of one step being pivotally secured to the side rails of the inner frame member and having a pin-and-slot connections to the side rails of the outer frame member. The second step is similarly arranged with the pivotal and pin-and-slot connections reversed with respect to the inner and outer frame members. When in the closed position, the steps lie completely within the three dimensions of the outer frame member.
