The present invention relates to a clip feeder arrangement for supportive receipt in a handle of a medical clip stapling gun to permit the advancement of a plurality of clips seriatim by a trigger mechanism in the handle to a location between a pair of pincher jaws. A distalmost clip of that plurality of clips is being advanced to the jaws prior to advancement of the remaining plurality of clips. The feeder arrangement comprises a ladder arranged within a U-shaped cartridge having a proximal end and a distal end. The distalmost clip is moved distally away from the ladder by a clip feeder bar mechanism which is arranged for first advancing the distalmost clip in the cartridge to a location between the jaws. The remaining plurality of clips are then also advanced distally by the ladder, both of the advancement motions occurring in a single distal advance of the clip feeder bar mechanism.

Ladder-type medical clip feeding mechanism

A surgical tool for operating within a body cavity through a small diameter opening includes a substantially rigid member which is elongated along a first axis and which has a cross-sectional dimension to fit within the opening. A head is mounted on one end of the rigid member for movement in at least one plane through an angle with respect to the first axis. An operable control member is mounted on an opposite end of the rigid member for having at least one degree of manipulability. The control member is coupled to the head member through the rigid member such that manipulation of the control member through an angle with respect to the first axis causes movement of the head member through a corresponding angle. Accordingly, the head member can be steered within a body cavity by control external to the body cavity. In some embodiments, the control member is manipulable to a second degree for actuating an actuating member mounted on the head.

Generic endoscopic instrument

A microsurgical instrument especially for ocular surgery including a hub having an axis with an axial bore in the proximal end and being receivable of a piston. In the distal end the bore is receivable of a tube, the piston and the tube being coaxial with the axis of the hub. A piston with an internal axial bore is disposed in the bore of the hub and is reciprocally movable along the axis. A face is disposed at one end of the piston and is adapted to engage a driver to provide movement of the piston on the axis. A tube is disposed in the bore at the distal end of the hub and extends outwardly therefrom. A member is rotatably disposed in the tube and extends outwardly to adjacent the distal end of the tube and inwardly to adjacent to the bore in the piston. Operative parts of the microsurgical instrument are disposed on the distal ends of each of the tube and the member. The parts cooperate with each other to perform a surgical task. Two spiral pathways are formed in the distal end of the piston and a pin is attached to the proximal end of the member and fitted in the spiral pathways whereby to convert longitudinal motion to rotational motion thus enabling operation of the instrument with a minimum of finger pressure.

Microsurgical instrument

The power-driven fingernail file comprises a hollow body held in one hand and containing a battery operated motor. A finger-actuating button switch on the exterior controls a rotatable abrading member driven by a motor. The abrading member is located in an outer recess between a pair of upwardly curved bottom walls.
