An improved plastic reflector member for a parabolic aluminized reflector (PAR) lamp is disclosed and, in particular, the use of said improved plastic reflector member for an all plastic PAR lamp or a PAR lamp which uses said improved reflector member. Said improved plastic reflector member utilizes a variable thickness wall member to form the parabolic shaped cavity wherein the wall thickness of its planar walls is sufficiently greater in the rim sealing region than in the adjoining wall region of said parabolic cavity to avoid mechanical and heat distortion.

A lamp is disclosed comprising a light source, an outer glass envelope having at least one dimple, a metallic base having at least one dimple, and a plastics skirt having means for complementary engaging and fastening to each of the dimples of the glass envelope and of the metallic base. The complementary engagement of the plastics skirt to the glass envelope is accomplished by snap-lock ramp-like extensions that fit into and engage an inner portion of the dimples of the glass envelope.

An improved vehicle lamp for forward illumination, such as a headlamp or fog lamp is provided which is substantially devoid of upward directed glare light and which is formed with a synthetic organic polymer material. Heat shield means are disclosed for said vehicle lamp to prevent heat distortion otherwise occurring at the lamp roof by reason of its proximity to the light source used. Said heat shield means can be provided as an integral portion of the lamp roof when molded and further include heat transfer means to dissipate heat from the internal lamp envelope.

An improved plastic base for annular fluorescent lamps is disclosed having two semicylindrical parts which can be assembled together reliably in high speed manufacture to provide an assembled lamp less prone to failure during use. The first part includes double latch means together with locking pins and mates with a second part having means to receive these latching and locking elements when the parts are joined together. Other elements are also located on both parts to limit rotation of the assembled base about the annular lamp. Tapered conductive contact ends can also be used to facilitate high speed manufacture when inserted into tapered openings in the lamp base.

An improved sealing means is provided for a sealed prefocused light source mount for a parabolic aluminized reflector (PAR) lamp and, in particular, to improved leak-proof sealing means for an all-plastic PAR lamp or a PAR lamp comprising a plastic reflector. The improved mount construction utilizes a plastic block having mating parts which define a cavity from which lead wires extend and which is filled with an elastomeric polymer providing both a leak-proof seal around the lead wires as well as a more reliable barrier to moisture leakage through the mount assembly.

Improved positioning means are provided to locate a light source at the focus of a parabolic aluminized reflector (PAR) lamp and, in particular to improved positioning means which center said light source in the plastic reflector of a PAR lamp and preferably an all plastic PAR lamp. The preferred mount construction being employed utilizes a plastic block having mating parts which define a cavity from which lead wires extend and which is filled with an elastomeric polymer providing both a leak-proof seal around the lead wires as well as a more reliable barrier to moisture leakage through the mount assembly. The improved positioning means can be rib elements located in the receptacle means on said reflector to which said plastic mount is joined.

The particular mount construction employed utilizes a plastic block having mating parts which define a cavity from which lead wires extend and which is filled with an elastomeric polymer providing both a leak-proof seal around the lead wires as well as a more reliable barrier to moisture leakage through the mount assembly. An exterior surface of said plastic block limits insertion of the assembled lamp unit into a conventional plug-in receptacle used to supply electrical power to the lamp.

A portable swivel base lighting fixture comprising a housing, a two-component base and a connecting arm which supportively attaches housing to the base. The base includes an outer or cover member which recessively surrounds an inner member. The outer and inner members are rotationally operable relative to each other to permit rotational positioning of the lamp.
